Comment on ChapterWet Sand - Chapter 37
Also, my thoughts...

I love my boys, all of them tbh (jo and tj especially), but da** I have such a hard time believing the chemistry between Ian and Jo. I definitely get that Jo is head over heels for Ian, but I feel like Ian is just going with the flow ig (even with TJ tbh)?? Dude is like an empty shell...I don't know. It's bumming me out. Even his scenes with TJ, I feel like Ian is blank. I think I only enjoy the scenes with TJ cus I at least enjoy TJ's s** appeal. Ian in all honesty makes me feel a blank piece of paper, nothing... I hope Ian finally gets to get away from his past cus it's really affecting him in a bleak way. I don't know how the author is gonna make this work with either tops...I'm praying this manwha doesn't end in a depressing manner...

@mexipoopy I mean that's the point, ian is broken down and completely lost, he knows what he wants; A life outside the gang where he doesn't have to hurt anyone. But this goal of his is blurred by all the trauma and fears he has, and it's holding him back. Jo and Tj represent two paths Ian can take, the "dark" one or the "light" one, and rn he is in a limbo. That's why the author has pointed out that this will be a loong story, Ians will after a long journey through his emotions reach a decision and the life he wants.
@mexipoopy ....you base their relationship's development on what you think of their s** scenes????
@B ah ok that makes sense if this will be a slow burn, but now that just makes this s** scene in particular feel rushed but I can see that being done on purpose to emphasize how wrong it should feel to the reader.
@mimi my enjoyment of s** scenes is irrelevant to the plot, obviously, BUT its not like the s** scenes don't add context to the story.. This plot definitely has nuance in the s** scenes, or else no one else would be talking about it. My point is mostly that you can really feel the ennui that Ian depicts (s** scene or not) and that it's sad to see. Also it's BL with sm** idk what you tryna call me out for...when literally most of us read these for the spice. Like sheeeesh a ho cant thirst over a BL character or what? Smh..😮💨
@mexipoopy This will be three seasons long according to the author so there will obviously be a LOT of developments, like Jo and Ian barely know eo, there is so much Ian has left to tell Jo and I feel like Ian will through this find himself. Tj knows all of his bad and dirty but Ian can't really be his kind and sensitive side with him. With Jo this kind and "human" side of Ian comes out and when he starts exploring the "dirty" parts with Jo it will probably also be a journey of Ian exploring which parts of "youngwoo" and "Ian" he is now; or rather wants to be, rn he is separating the two. Imo these last few chapter have been kinda rushed, I follow the author on twitter and it seems to come down to exhaustion/poor time management, I think she wanted to end this season so she could rest. But Imo we shouldn't judge these relationships through sexual chemistry, Tj×Ian have sexual chemistry but everything else is terrible, Jo×Ian might not have the best sexual chemistry rn but they have communication, affection and some degree of trust and vulnerability. But this is just the first season so there are still many developments to be seen in all the relationships. This s** scene does however show Ian being vulnerable in a way he hasn't been with anyone but Tj, also Jo is focusing a lot on Ians pleasure, there is not pain which there often is with Tj. The vulnerable part is more present in ch 36, the chapter that hasn't been uploaded here so do check it out cuz it is important, it also shows Ians emotional limbo. Sorry for the rant lmao.
@B lol it's fine, I like discussing these kinds of things. I do agree with mostly everything you said. I did read 36 prior to my comment, so I do know what you're talking about, which is why this scene in particular felt rushed to me. But in retrospect, despite that, I feel like it could still work. I feel like the majority of men irl don't really like to be vulnerable in general so their behavior seems natural at this point. I do think that Ian is opening up with Jo way more genuinely than with TJ, but that's probably another reason I don't want them to have s** this way but I also understand that this is a form of communication that Jo believes Ian prefers which is why I want to add importance to the s** scenes, because that is what Ian is accustomed to. He's trying to find a middle ground so he can understand Ian more intimately.
@mexipoopy I also enjoy discussions, especially when it comes to this story lmao. I mean I hated this development first cuz I thought Iand and Jo would be friends and sleep during s2 😂💀 But I just tried to shift my perspective on things, author is also obviously going for drama. I feel like the "feelings" he has for Jo are just muddled by whatever he has with Tj rn and his trauma, hes obviously been making decisions lately based on his emotional trauma (poor guy 💀) and it just shows to me how he isn't ready for a new life or new relationships, he has to stop running from his past and he can't keep separating "youngwoo" and "Ian", somewhere between these two there is whoever he wants to be rn. And yeah imo Jo realised that if he wants to be with Ian he has to go at Ians pace, naive or not I also feel like this shows how Jo considers Ians personality and circumstances compared to Tj. However Jo will definitely get a reality shock next season.
