@komaiwa232

I didn’t read the entire Killing Stalking analysis because I was a teenager with a short attention span and got bored easily.I had already read the highlighted/important parts before, and even now I still haven’t finished the whole thing. *Yep, not romanticization.

As I mentioned before,I find it difficult to find a work that meets all of the criteria I mentioned.There’s always something missing.So I’m going to recommend three works.

Psychological thriller + more realistic queerr characters/crime: Saezuru Tori wa Habatakenai

*I don’t remember ever finding healthy, realistic queerr representation in stories with dark themes.
After all, even these kinds of stories can have healthy characters too.I’m definitely not the most knowledgeable person on this topic,though.I’m sure there are readers who know much more about it.

Healthy + realistic queerr characters:

Until I Meet My Husband — The author is a gay activist.
The work was originally published in Japan as Nanasaki’s memoir/essays.The author also has an autobiographical book.The manga is essentially a real queerr life story adapted into manga form, with some romanticization added to it.

2.The Most Ordinary Relationship

Queer & Adult.Psychological Thriller.No Tolerance for Psycho,R*pist and Abusive Characters.

LMAOO don't delete anything, I read it all  and honestly? I respect the dedication. You really came prepared with the whole syllabus 😭

Couple things that stood out:

1. 'Sometimes I find comics a bit childish'  okay that actually hurt a little ngl 💀 but I get it. Coming from a film background, I can see why you'd feel that way. Comics don't have the same visual language or pacing as film, and let's be real a lot of them ARE poorly written. But when they hit? They HIT. Monster and Psycho-Pass are valid picks tho, no argument there.

2. The bara/gei komi point that's interesting. I didn't know that distinction before. So basically, even when it's made BY gay men, it can still fall into the same toxic patterns? That's kinda depressing ngl. Guess no genre is safe LMAOO.

3. 'You can swear at me now' girl why would I swear at you 😭 You're literally the most prepared person I've talked to in these comments. If anything, I should be taking notes.

Also, thanks for actually answering my question. Saezuru and Until I Meet My Husband  I'm noting those down. The fact that one is literally a memoir adapted into manga is actually wild. I might check that out first since at least I KNOW it's real.

One more thing tho you said you're not a yaoi addict, but you clearly know your stuff. So what DO you usually read/watch then? Like outside of this genre, what's your go-to?"
