@JPANIME probably a very long time have passed, there could be generations

@cassandra That was my first assumption, but them jumping from species to species was just weird to me. Let's say it was generations, then what happened to the evolved wolves. It took them 300yrs to find a clan to return with? A bunch of fantastics tried to steal the tree, because they're certain that it's a World Tree. And the Merchant owns that land, I doubt any number of generation would forget something that significant, especially during a harsh winter. And long enough for a group of goblins to settle down.

Hopefully it explains the plot hole later in story..

@JPANIME maybe the author is new to these kinds of things Maybe we shouldn't be too harsh with them Them. Yet.

@JPANIME I have to agree. We have no reference of exactly how much time had passed. Definitively, we know at least 20 years had gone by with Alto going on to become a successful adventurer before retiring back to his home village to raise a family and building the tree a new fence with his son. But in other panels, the fence is no longer there which adds more questions if something happened to them.

What about the merchant? Was the village Alto from purchased by him as well? If the tree is guarded around the clock, how did goblins set up a village at the base of the tree?

This is the one question that's bothering me the most. How did the guy not go crazy after all those years? He's trapped as a tree self-aware of the environment but can't move or communicate. Hopefully this manga has a LN which better explains all these strange plot points.

@JustWatching yeah, it's like the more you think about it, the less sense it makes. Especially when you realize that Alto is probably a famous adventurer because of the World Tree blessing. There would be hordes of people trying to protect that tree for it's blessings and fruit.

Then he wished to be the strongest in the world, he made no attempt to figure out why he was turned into a tree whatsoever to find the connection, he just went with it 😂

It's only 2 chapters in, and it's already so many weird plot holes.

Because like you said, we have reference how much time is passing by either.

Because if alot of time has pased by: where are the wolves?

If alot of time hasn't passed: where are the guards?

@JPANIME Yeah that was another thing that was nagging me. Unless the world they were living in was truly a kind world, the moment any information leaked about the world trees powers you know the aristocracy was going to get involved as they would not just protect the tree but try to monopolize it as well.

Or worse knowing human nature, a war would've been fought over the possession of the tree.

Alto's village would probably not have talked about it or travelers who heard the story would probably pass it off as a tall tale. Monsters who ate the fruit would probably not talk about it either. But for the merchant and his private army that protects the tree, that's going to get someones attention.
