Comment on ChapterBlossoms of the White Night - Chapter 18

The story of their relationship should be interesting because it's complex.
But that's what gives it so much potential!
They have a lot to learn and understand about each other and about themselves.
I'm really interested in how author will develop characters and their relationship.

Continued in the comments (sorry, a lot of words)

Shuraka:
-Shuraka probably has no experience with this kind of relationship. It will all be a first.
-Right now, Shuraka has a childhood crush for Tei that could easily be shattered by reality. It must transform into something bigger, stronger, and more real.
-It's possible that even the image of Tei in Shuraka's memory differs from the real Tei. Firstly, many years have passed, and memory plays tricks on us. Secondly, Tei has also changed over the years.
-He will have to give up that image in his head and find the courage to get to know the real Tei.
-If Shuraka was in love for so many years and imagined reuniting with Tei for so many years, he definitely has his own expectations and ideas about how their relationship with Tei should work out, how Tei should behave, and what their happiness should look like. And it's unlikely these expectations align with reality.
Most likely, in his ideas, there is only love and happiness in this relationship, but there is no room for learning each over, for problems, fears, grief, mistakes, a sad past, or sorrow.
-Perhaps he imagines that for Tei to be happy, it will be enough to be in Arnata, to have a palace, jewelry, delicious food, beautiful clothes, a blooming garden, and to be with Shuraka. But perhaps Tei (given how he lived in Lerakal) needs something else, some meaning, some cause, or purpose.

-Based on what we already know about Arnata's traditions, we can imagine that Shuraka's life was complex, full of intrigue, betrayal, and cruelty. And all these years, he coped alone. Now, he won't be alone. And it will change his life even in ways he wouldn't want.
-We can assume that even people who was close to Shuraka (he mentioned his mother) didn't accept some of his actions or behavior. And someone probably betrayed him. I think he's used to hiding and concealing a lot.
He'll have to learn to trust Tei, even in those actions where he fears Tei's judgment or misunderstanding. He'll have to learn to protect Tei without hiding everything from him. And perhaps he'll have to learn to lower his authority and "padishahNESS" specifically in his relationship with Tei.
-He will also need to learn not to use Tei's isolation as a way to protect Tei or solve problems between them.
-Shuraka will have to learn to understand Tei silence and his constant agreement to everything or find a way to encourage Tei to express himself more openly with him.

Tei:
-In my opinion, NOW Tei does not love Shuraku (in a romantic sense), and is not even in love with him
-Yes, Tei is attached to Shuraka, but rather he is attached to that “little Shuraka”, and the "adult Shuraka" is still a stranger to him.
-Tei is in an interesting situation. Yes, he's known Shuraka for a long time (they've known each other for over 10 years). Yes, they're married. Yes, they've slept together (sort of). But, in reality, Tei doesn't know who Shuraka is or what their relationship is like. So, for them, it's all in reverse order: they got married, slept together, got to know each other, fell in love (i hope).
-He need to know the "adult Shuraka" and love him as he is, with all his actions and decisions, with all his differences from that "little Shuraka"
-Perhaps even more importantly, he should see what kind of person Shuraka is: not that child from the past, not the Padishah, but Shuraka himself.
-And at the same time understand who Padishah Shuraka is, what kind of ruler he is
-He will have to adjust to his new position (role) as Shahbanu / Sultana / Empress
-Tei is very quiet and reserved. He'll have to learn to open up more to Shuraka.
-He will have to learn not only to express consent as his duty to his homeland/Arnata/Shuraka, but also to express his desires and feelings, even if they involve refusal.
-No less than developing a relationship with Shuraka, Tei needs to find his own new meaning and purpose in life in Arnata.
-Tei will need to find new ways to care for and protect Shuraka. Shurak is no longer a child, but a strong adult who has managed to become a padishah despite the mortal threats.
-Tei sees himself as a servant to Shuraka. He might have to change this perception of himself and their relationship, so that they stop being servant and ruler and become two loving people.

They've had a tough start! They'll both likely make a lot of mistakes.
They'll have to learn from their mistakes and change.

p.s.
I apologize, there are a lot of my personal assumptions about Shuraka, since we still know very little about him.
@ItsNotOverYet I loved reading your insight about the manhwa and I agree to everything, Shuraka's love right now isn't healthy and has lots of expectations (hopefully he'll learn with time)
