It's normal that most neglected children have second base opinions on their parents , but don't put all the blame to them : they weren't great parents but were still good parents / true parents need to care of their children and yada yada , but they still have their own life/work/career aside of the kid.
what you turned into is not only the consequences of your childhood environment BUT also your own.
many children can have similar environments like yours but still end up right ( did you see how fuc*** up Andy childhood was ? , he became traumatized and all but still respect others )
