@Ethan Elliot google ai “ The manga and anime industry loses an estimated ¥5.7 trillion to ¥8.5 trillion ($37 billion to $55 billion) annually to online piracy”

@Roggggggggy XD have you ever asked google ai to show you the source? The only piracy that adds up to an actual loss in revenue is piracy that takes place in japan. The vast majority of individuals who watch and read anime and manga would just... not... if they had to use licensed copies. I should know, I'm one of them. This drastically cuts into the displayed numbers. Since the japanese market is hard driven by merchandise, individuals being exposed to the source material, even if pirated, is more important than purchasing a raw edition. Why should I pay for an english dub/sub that is not faithful to the original work when I can read/watch a fansub that is? I'll then buy the over priced body pillow, figurines, and posters of my favorite characters, which takes away all those billions of dollars from those poor, poor localizers and annoying a*s voice actors that don't even know japanese, don't watch the original work, and hate anime :(
