@inhuman Butterfly effect is not exactly how it would work with particular things. Id say a ripple effect would make more sense for a regression story, but if one semi minor difference uproots the entire reality that was in place it's pretty major plot problem.
The strength of the regressor is their knowledge of a limited future unchanged by them which allows them to acquire certain treasures or skills or other perks. If you take that away then there is zero point in doing a regression story might as well make them wake up in an alternate reality. Settings effect plot and the immersion of the reader.
