At first, when Chase knew the existence of Pete and saw him, Chase got jealous of who the "Mother" might be (he overheard Isaac's confession to Josh and abt the whole "I don't plan to live with anyone except her" last chapter).

 

Chase took both the father-son-duo on a date by renting a whole amusement park for them and he attempted to get along with Pete in the process (Pete actually has no problem with interacting with Chase but Chase is the one who who is trying to get used to that kind of domestic intimacy).

Josh talked to Chase about it and told him that it was normal for him to react that way because of his past. While they were conversing, they didn't notice that Pete had gone missing which led to a whole frantic search and Chase hyperventilating and blaming himself, but Josh supported him and ran to inform the other bodyguards leaving Chase be left unattended.
