The story then returns to Camilla. She visits the Javelin family estate to research the mysterious Eva Church. Zeno believes the Eva Church may be connected to the strange group they are investigating. Camilla had already searched the Sorpel family's library, but she found very little information there. The Duryel family has even more information, but visiting them would be uncomfortable because the head of the family is the biological father of Empress Javiela. So Camilla chooses the Javelin family's library instead. When Camilla arrives, Elisha happily runs to greet her. Elisha is wearing one of the new outfits designed by Juella. She loves the clothes and asks Camilla who designed them. Camilla keeps Juella's identity secret because Juella does not want her family to know that she is working as a clothing designer. Instead, Camilla has been wearing Juella's designs everywhere and promoting them. As a result, the clothes have become extremely popular, with orders increasing rapidly. After speaking with Elisha, Camilla enters the huge library with Petro. She asks him to help her find books about the Sword of Guardianship, Mars, and especially the Eva Church. Petro agrees and brings her a large stack of books. He also stays in the library and reads while Camilla studies. While they read, Petro watches Camilla quietly. He realizes how peaceful and precious these moments with her have become. He also thinks about Arcian. Arcian visits Camilla whenever he wants and clearly acts according to his feelings for her, while Petro has been holding himself back because he does not want to cause problems for her. Petro begins to feel that perhaps he has already lost his chance with Camilla. Eventually, Camilla discovers important information about the Eva Church. The descriptions in the old books match what she and Zeno have experienced. One particularly disturbing statement says that everyone who follows the Eva Church has had their soul stolen. Camilla also learns that the Eva Church's main belief was eternal life. They attracted people by promising immortality, but the truth was much darker. They used people especially children, poor people, and the weak as sacrifices in their attempts to achieve eternal life. They also wanted to steal bodies and use them as vessels. Long ago, Mars led the fight against the Eva Church and destroyed them with the Sword of Guardianship. Everyone believed the church had been completely wiped out after that victory. However, Camilla now realizes that the information she has discovered may mean that the Eva Church was never truly gone.
✕Camilla is shocked after discovering that the Eva Church, which everyone believed had disappeared centuries ago, may still exist. Even worse, she suspects that the Emperor himself might be a member or possibly even the leader of the Eva Church. She realizes that the Emperor has lived for far too long and may have survived by moving his soul from one body to another. Camilla is terrified because this means the enemy is extremely powerful and is already at the center of the Empire. She also suspects that members of the Eva Church may have infiltrated the temple and its leadership. She cannot understand how such a supposedly destroyed religion managed to survive and spread without anyone noticing. Camilla tells Zeno that she thinks they were right about the Eva Church. Zeno agrees and warns her that this may be too dangerous for her to handle alone. Camilla knows he is right, but she doesn't know whom she can trust. If she accuses the Emperor, people may think she is committing treason, and she could be executed. She considers using her position as a Saintess to warn everyone about the Emperor and the fake relics. However, she is afraid because she is not actually the real Saintess. If people demand that she prove her identity using the Sword of Judgment, she may be exposed as a fraud and possibly killed. She wants to find a safer way to expose the Eva Church without putting herself in danger. Camilla thinks that investigating the red relics might be the best way. She has already asked Jayner and the Khan group to investigate them, but she has not received any useful information yet. She believes that following the trail of these soul-stealing relics could eventually lead them to the truth. However, the temple is secretive and difficult to investigate, just like the Imperial Family.
