So ML knew MC’s mom since he was like 10(?). He met her at an orphanage and she happened to sponsor him. She found a family to adopt him. His family loves him. They kept in contact throughout the years but their relationship wasn’t exactly affectionate (?). Anyways one day the mom contacted him and asked him to tutor MC because the mom is worried about him and having someone close in age would maybe help MC open up about his troubles. ML knew from the start about everything and he agreed cause well the mom is his benefactor? He expected MC to be a brat spoiled by the almighty mom but he met a quiet and shy MC and kinda quickly took a liking to him and started worrying about him and everything. He was pretty genuine about how he treated Wooyeon besides how their tutoring started and him getting updates from the mom, when Wooyeon got send home from school because he beat up the bully. He was always worried about him being alone and all that. He was also feeling really guilty the whole time and when Wooyeon confessed ML knew he needed to draw a line and then disappeared. he has been feeling guilty about it since!
Based on the spoilers I've read ML is utter trash. Him and everyone else! around MC was hired by the mother to spy on him because his mother wants to keep him under complete control. He was bullied and lonely all his life and it looks like nobody ever helped him even though they knew because they were... Duh, spying on him. The betrayal and manipulation just broke my heart. Then in present time ML started dating MC to continue to spy on him for the mother and only came clean at the end of the story. He used all the information from spying on MC to manipulate him and get him to like him. He lied about not remembering him, he lied about his gender and he even lied about not getting his name right when he was tutoring him. It was all calculated. Then the spineless MC forgave him immediately, there was barely any redemption arc, ML explained away everything like it wasn't his fault because he had bad childhood bohoo... After learning all this I feel sick and decided to drop this trash. I'm happy I saw the spoilers early because the story (which is fluffy right until the end with no clues that it's actually toxic) and the tags are utterly misleading. I heard a lot of good things about Omega Complex and I was planning to read it and I'm really disappointed and disgusted...
