@Kayeanne i don't want to spoil the Novel, but Lucas' sacrifice is actually a lot more meaningful than that, until the very last chapter of the novel he's remembered and his sacrifice has a lot of impact in the narrative and the relationship of ALL the characters, not only Paula and Vincent's, the story doesn't treat him as a simple side piece made to be discarded.
