@otterlyanylitical but she clearly still loves the Duke and everybody deserves a second chance right
It's OK if you disagree with me,
I can't force you to be RIGHT.

@Psychopathic_Killer only if that person wants to freely give it.
He's disregarded every single verbal and no verbal cue that she doesn't want to, and he puts the blame for that on her, as if it's her fault he won't leave.

She's an empathetic woman and very soft hearted. Acting hurt and pitiful is very effective at tugging on her heart strings. She is also easily swept up in her emotions, and pressured in to conforming and enduring discomfort.

He knows she wants him to leave, he admits it.  He's forcing himself on her and praying on he weak points and using the permissiveness  of her brother to get what he wants.

Does she have lingering feelings, maybe, look at everything she did to try and make the marriage work.
That would be hard to shake off.

But all her behaviour, hiding , looking  round doors before she opens them, skipping  meals to avoid coming face to face with him, is that of a woman who's also very frightened.

When you break it down , he's obsessively stalking her in her own home, and has been from the beginning even if she doesn't know it yet.

When you look at it from her perspective, it's a rather terrifying situation, and her family is allowing it. So she's enduring this till he leaves.
She can't even leave herself as it's clear he'll follow her.
Plus there is no marriage, it's being annulled, he has also not apologised or explained anything.
