@baunero Abuse victims always have bahavioral quirks that are sometimes... hard to fathom, illogical and//or annoying. as a reader, the frustration is real. IRL victims have a hard time maintaining relationships becasue their emotionally traumatized brain spirals to dark places and twists what they percieve so the pleasant conversation you had yesterday may have warped into a sarcastic jab overnight and you have no clue how it happened. you don;t know if the person is a jerk, or if they are just so hurt and scarred from their past you need more patience ot develope the relationship.
from the abuse she has learned she is always wrong, she has no value, and she is a burden. she was extreamly anxious and depressed. She has learned not to want or wish for anything, as it will just lead to dissapointment and more abuse. As a reader I just want her to lean on Raftain and be open and happy. but depression alone is irrational at times and breaking out of the self depricating gloom is a challenge to even the happiest seemign of people (eg: robin williams)
