@Prinzinc You are conflating ownership with responsibility. Secondly, there are laws designed to punish those who abuse or treat children in such ways. Thirdly, the way you use control is very dishonest because you are trying to manipulate the word as if it were guidance, protection, and responsibility of the child. additionally, if we were to apply your logic, it would justify any form of extreme abuse (not spanking or wrist slapping) and would also imply that you were once owned by a teacher, are still owned by the government, and so on.To put it plainly, it is a bad analogy to use to support your argument when you suggest that parents tell children what to do since they look after them. It is a terrible and deceptive method of defending slavery.

@Modern Ownership requires responsibility as well, in fact no ownership exists without responsibility and an owner always has the highest responsibility among those who have responsibility.
You clearly have never researched slavery in history because almost without exception, all societies have had laws protecting slaves in various ways. Not all of those laws were good enough, but slaves have almost always had rights in history. There are a few shocking exceptions and that's what people always focus on which is why they are often ignorant and emotionally invested in this topic. Clearly, children today have laws protecting them but they still fall under the umbrella of a type of slavery since their money, property, agency or body are controlled by their parents. You can dislike the word control all you like, but it is a perfectly accurate word to describe a parent's power over their children.
