People say women have it all now... we can study, work, speak.
But patriarchy isn't always loud. Sometimes, it just blends in: like being told to sit properly while your brother lounges, or being expected to help in the kitchen while he plays outside. It’s in being taught how to serve tea with a smile, while no one teaches boys to lift a plate. It’s in checking the clock when you’re out late, fixing your top when walking past a group of boys, being called “too much” just for having a voice.
It’s in coming home tired from work and still being expected to do all the housework and childcare while he lounges on the couch. And if he joins in once in a while... Suddenly he's the best father of the year, like he hasn't done something bare minimum.
Patriarchy didn’t disappear.
It just got softer, smarter, harder to name.
But we feel it every single day, in a hundred little ways...
