I get that he's a loser and all but why tho, is there history behind his fear. I feel like the author just made him that way to force character development

@FALCONWORTH maybe because he was weak in the past and his sister was killed in front of her brutally without him being able to fight back properly, so the trauma is still somewhat in him?
@Papi Rio maybe but all those don't really translate the same way when ur playing a game. A game is supposed to be an escape from reality, and its just that. For example I'm scared of swordfights irl but I can just plunge into a swordfight in a game without much thought, even though dying might cost me my entire run because its a rouge-like game.
@Dodo I’m scared of fighting in games, too. Sure, it’s a game but some peoples fears just can’t leave them even if they are in a game. People don’t need to have trauma to be scared of things, just like people are scared of lions without fighting them and even if it’s a escape from reality, your fears won’t just go away instantly
@J k m w o p I know that some fears are transferred into games such as arachnophobia, but those are for phobias. But I might have a bias on the subject as I grew up playing all kinds of games. I’ve never even heard of someone being genuinely afraid shitless because of a fight scene in a game. This here is probably done to drive home the loser -> op mc trope.
