trollface stickermy only gripe with this story that they keep pushing, is this stupid a** nonsense about how the MC doesn't have any talent compared to anyone else, yada yada yada, he has acquired the greatest talent that anyone could ever hope for, endless respawns and more lives then a cat, if they actually gave him the actual accumulated experience through all the constant battles like they did for the characters in all you need is kill, he would be a killing machine/g** of war by now, this is something they also did in vagabond where musashi was one of the least talented characters in the story, but he managed to close that Gap and even surpass the most talented characters by constantly fighting in death matches, you will never grow faster as a warrior or soldier than fighting and constant death matches or wars, in just 38 chapters the MC of this story has more accumulated war experience than a space Marine from Warhammer 40K that has lived for 2,000 years and fought in endless wars.

@Uncle Buck  Well, that is the fate of every story, to be bound by morals and tropes. The talentless overpowering the prodigies by his sole hardwork is the most primal story archetype there is. The flamboyant victory of the underdog. Almost every story out there follow this. Even the prodigy ones need to be portrayed in an unfavorable situation to overcome, or else there wouldn't really be a story to tell, really.
Pretty sure you don't dislike this aspect of the story as much as you say you do, I suspect you'd actually dislike it way more if it hadn't any trace of it. What's unpleasant is the overbearing repetitions, since every other dialogue line mentions it.

On the other hand, keep in mind you complain about the dialogues of other characters serving the plot by being used as commentator on the situation at play, if they truly had objective and rational analysis of the situation it would be real weird. So, of course, what author wants to comment through their characters needs to be tainted by their personality, point of view, knowledge or lack thereof, and all.

@TotallyAbsurd yeah I don't dislike the underdog trope in stories I just hate seeing it for characters that's not talentless, that are actual prodigies that they're trying to portray as talentless,
like do anyone really believe Naruto was less talented than Lee that is b*******, everyone knew that Lee was the least talented character in that story, and that he overcame the talent of others through sheer hard work,
and I feel like they're so few stories that can actually do a believable underdog story where the least talented character just defeated the most talented character through hard work and determination,
Stores like all you need is kill, dragon Ball / dragon Ball z, demon slayer, vagabond, holyland, Yu Yu Hakusho, Hunter x Hunter, hajime no ippo, Kingdom, and up until the end the legend of the northern blade, and probably a few others I can't think of off the top of my head,
But these are the only stories that actually feel like underdog story to me, and while this story is a underdog story, having talent or being a prodigy mean nothing in this story, or at least it shouldn't to the MC who has one of the greatest abilities to die and come back and learn from every death,
That means there isn't too many characters in all of fiction he can't defeat as long as they're not omnipotent g**-tier characters, or invulnerable characters with g**-tier strength like Superman or saitama,
And Once you know this, you realize how pointless it is, when they bring up how talentless the MC is, compared to everyone else is in this story, that is what annoys me about it, I'm finally done ranting, so I hope this reply isn't too long, if it is I apologize.
@Uncle Buck  i think the point here in the story is the very basic 'innate talent' vs 'hardworked efford'. A person like MC can work as hard as he can 24/7 and still never comes close to someone with actual natural talent, specially those like the crew and others that have talent AND work hard.
Time and experience are things that many soldiers in war times cant really afford. Each new day is a possible battle they can die in before they can acunplish the point to 'get good'.
Like MC said: what Torres takes a week to master may take a year for him and if it wasnt the 'cant die' curse he already would be dead like many other men that failed to have talent AND hard work
