The make or break moment when we find out if the artist writes emotionally two or three dimensional characters. Because what I'm hearing, it should be just as likely that the parents used a mercenary guy to secure themselves and then turned their back on him to secure a more promising fiance... if this was a realistic tale. Then the mercenary is pis*** and frantic to secure what he worked hard for while the girl in question could be completely clueless after hearing lies from her parents. Or maybe even only telling a half truth to the MC because she has legitimate reasons to fear her fiance after trying to break the promises her family made.

@Mnemos Logos it could be. And, the girl also said he won't marry the captain, she rather diee.. then she ask MC to save her and she'll even give up the house for it? So convenient to give and take her house like that? Sus 🤔
@Readbymood Yeah, that one was a mess. It's not like she knows if the mc will over use the House's power and influence or not. He could be two timing the girl in the future too, which would mean she would go from one problem fiancée to another. Well, i guess at this point, she will never marry a person that poisoned her parents anyway... crappy story telling.
@Mnemos Logos If this was a realistic story, the parents would have poisoned the scumbag knight to prevent him from marrying their daughter.....
@Anonym If the young lady's retelling of events is true, she was the 'payment' to secure the mercenaries. No matter how promiscuous the mercenray leader is the real scumbags are the parents who treated their daughter like trade goods in the first place.
@Mnemos Logos Unfortunately, it's somewhat realistic for it to happen... they are just a baron house, not very high ranking after all. They are in a situation that they could be wiped out... to keep their power, they sold off their daughter. Noble daughters are usually used like this... what's not normal is the fact that she is the sole heir though... parents would probably be a bit more cautious about it.
