I gotta ask a question to BL readers, what is the bar to meassure toxicity in red flags? I'm so confused about some of your opinions. Since YTC ended this week, gotta take the example. Yahwi is hated by many, his toxicity is not acceptable, but Cain's toxicity was okay. Now, Yahwi was bad, but he was really far from being the worst. Tops like Seungho, Caesar, Sangwoo, Zhenya, Jiwon, Taesung, Wookyung among others, have huge fandoms and are all way worse than Yahwi. I'm not Yahwi's lawyer, and I don't love him, but I don't hate or get this huge hate, specially when these haters love these black flags that are way worse. So tell me, what is this bar for you? Also, gotta put the example of honey trouble cause I think you all are hating the professor so much and he is actually not a bad guy, the blonde guy is so much worse and everyone loves him anyways. And I still don't get the love for Caesar and Zhenya, both are hot but still, they're just pepe sticker

@MD Sub I've read like 1000 BLs and I always like the looks on some character (design), but that doesn't mean I like the character, I think that from all those stories I've read I like around 50 characters at most. I can like the character designs a lot but I almost never get attached or connect with them, so about these red/black flags, I believe some like just the design, others use their trauma as justification for everything they do, and others just like the character. We can't control what others like, and we should respect their likings. It's just fiction, no one would simp for these guys if they were real.
About Yahwi, I think most of the hate comes from extreme Cain fans, those who didn't get too attached to Cain actually enjoyed the ending and admitted Yahwi's development was good.
I'll add, I love Yahwi, I have never justified his actions but I could understand him and his circumstances. I'm not the type to get into discussions about red flags but the key is to understand it's just fiction. It's okay to understand and connect with a fictional character that screwed up and got his development, it's not okay to justify that kind of toxicity irl.

@MD Sub i rly love yahwi he is my fav character he is the first one i have a deep feeling for him i was cry with him as well as laugh with him
maybe that because when i read YTC 3-2 yrs ago he just remained my by my old self when i was little i rly was selfish and get mad easly and at bad thing as well as im so possessive when i like someone or something ( i were live a miserable life for a child aged 13 and down) but somehow i changed all thing about me changed now and i feel like i find happiness so when i first read YTC i feel yahwi and i rly were hopping for him to change and find happiness even if it's not with jaween (bottom)
@Serendipity oh you like yahwi just like me 🫶

@MD Sub this reminds me of when I read back to school, a bl manhwa that involved a love triangle. I don't know their names but one was a blonde hair ml and the other was black hair ml (will call them blonde and black respectively), they were both red flags. Blond was manipulative and didn't respect boundaries, while black was physically abusive and could not take no for an answer. People who were team black hated the blond's guts and labeled him as toxic and unredeemable. It went so far they would verbally attack people who were fans of Blond just bc they didn't like him. They would berate everything that blond does while justifying black actions on his poor upbringing. When blond and mc had a s** scene, anti blonds called it ra** when it wasn't. I haven't read YTC but to answer your question, its probably just appearance. As long as they. are hot and buff (bonus if they have thick eyebrows and black hair) females readers will love them and everything they do. So its not really a measure of toxicity, more so a measure of how hot they are.

@MD Sub if they are pushy to the point they rapê the other lead over and over, can't take no for an answer, being jealous is fine to a point though, continuously hurting the other lead not just by rapê but mentally torturing them and making them cry over and over
