@Sawgking21 i don't thinks so, many families knew about the marriage proposal, but none agreed, only the Old Man did, but died so now nobody know the real reason why he became the son-in-law of that family. that's how i saw it, but i could be wrong

@Eustass90 Law I think it's because only the old man knew about the ye family and in the past old man worked for the Ye family and when he was retired due to an illness then the Ye family proposed marriage btw their grandchildren. So the old man agreed.
@Eustass90 Law that's also possible but that would also mean that even the old man didn't know who the MC really was or know about how powerful the Ye family was.
