I know exactly why the mc acts as he does. Seems like most of the people commenting have either had a fairly good life and/or have strong personalities, which is good for them but the mc hasn't had that and doesn't have a strong personality. I'm always surprised at how few people can see others from a point of view that isn't their own.

@Lumine Same I think he's already strong enough in that situation, I would have cried and yelled long ago. He's different from the mc who are poor but have an arrogant attitude
@JustLooking people lack the understanding that he has been battered and pushed his entire life and now this man he knew from Highschool, probably his Highschool sweetheart, comes in and 'saves' him in, providing him food and shelter, he hasn't been treated this well in G** knows how long... so it's completely natural to feel something towards that person.
