dude will be getting hate at anything he does at this point. He will get the same hate, if he left Annette in frontline and she injured/died, for being useless even after having power and he is getting the same hate now for moving her to safer-rear side and not respecting her decision. How tf is he supposed to know she is closer with people there, what does it even matter in the battlefield lol. You save your life first, then look out for others.
@Ecxe I think this story hasn't fully targeted the right audience. It's a dark romance, so it's twisted, toxic and morally questionable at some point. In this case, I think it's still a good story, because there's a real plot and a good development of the characters. Still, people just like to hate the ML lmao
@Nexuseme It isn't that dark of a romance tbh, it just target more about understanding humans and seeing how they would act in extreme situations and seeing some real growth.. Like is he supposed to leave Annette to die in frontlines when knows when, when he knows next war is approaching lol? People are gonna have problem with anything he does at this point, be it right or wrong.
"How tf is he supposed to know" I mean, that's the thing, isn't it? You just said it. He never knows jacksh!t about her and only makes assumptions. Their entire relationship started from his assumption of her which led to an obsession. He never tries to actually learn about her.
And this *is* dark romance. The way you described the story is alright but that does enter in the dark romance category. The thing is, it's just not made very well so far. They sure got the messy and dark drama aspects of it, but the ML itself is simply unlikable so far. You asked for a different way in which they could've gotten closer at this point? It would've been him going to the frost lines, despite the risks of his status which would make him an even bigger target than the rest, to see her and the life she wanted to create for herself with his own eyes. Then at some point he gets injured during the battle and in a typical cliche, she sees him, gets scared for him (because we do see she still has feelings) and takes care of him. From then on, with or without sprinkles of amnesia, they see each other in their vulnerable states and learn how to comunicate, etc. Again, it is cliche, but then again the way the actual story is written is cliche too so why couldn't the author choose a cliche that makes the ML a better person instead of a selfish fk I don't know.
@behind a dumpster dude he will see the life she wanted to create for herself even in the rear hospital. All I am saying is , moving in rear is a better option no matter how I see it, coz it is a frikin battlefield.. He is a commander of country for gods sake , lives of thousands depend on him, c'mon he can't be that reckless to act on emotions only .. It might have followed the cliche as you said, but making a "stable of his character" after getting in detailed about how he survived this far ,is a fever dream, would make it a Disney cartoon. I loved the whole novel regardless of eveything.
@Ecxe ask the people around the front lines duh? The problem with him is he's making rash decisions thinking that it would be good for her. But it's not. He just dragged all her efforts to dust, depriving her of a good environment with people who opens their arms to her. Now she's back to square 1 with almost everyone all eyes on her watching her every move like it's wrong to even act/move the way she wants.
Yeah she's safe at the rear. Will his decision help her MENTALLY? Getting attacked through gossips again and again and the malice+hate she's receiving. Is it fair? She was already free but he dragged her back to those sh** with the decision to transfer her. Also she did not want to be transfered.
@Hng Yes it has consequences, I amnit denying it . But it still was the most rational choice he could take in that situation though. And Annette was suicidal few months ago, and he hears the news that she was transferring medical supplies during bullet fire. So ofc he would think she went there to die, and will do what he can to transfer her to safe side.
