@mae. The thing is, he could only be manipulated if he had negative feelings already. So being manipulated only proves that he didn't love Emi's Remilia wholeheartedly. It'll be mentioned in the future.

@mae. His problem with Remilia was that she was so wonderful it made him feel inferior. When the drugs made him like the star maiden, he was quick to use the incident to try and put her in 'her place' and publically humiliate her for her crimes despite her position as his childhood friend, fiance and the next queen of the country. Part of the reason he was even fond of the star maiden was that she was so stupid and tacky he felt comfortable and superior around her.

He's legit the kind of man that needs women in his life to make themselves smaller so he can feel big about himself. The situation just revealed this underlying truth.
