Denying the usefulness of religion's ability to unite people in times of chaos or teach extremely complex ideas to the uneducated masses is just being blind. As for the opener: The church and cults are easy targets. There are several reasons behind it; from "good person is actually a bad person" trope to "powerful organization is secretly evil." In manwha, "powerful organization is secretly evil" is always huge because... well... south korea AKA The Republic of Korea is also known as The Republic of Samsung ^-^ you don't get elected without the big families say so and you get disappeared if they don't like you ^-^ The reason why Samsung immediately moved all their factories back to Korea once the Tarrif war began instead of negotiating with the US is because of how much control they have in Korea x.x
