i finished this story last night and have been thinking about it since. i've concluded the title refers to the years adolph loved lewis the most. they were together for 14 years, and adolph was unfaithful for 4 of those. if it was referring to lewis, it would've been called "the 14 years i loved you the most" because lewis loved adolph more than anything until he died. he was hurt and wanted adolph to suffer the way he did, but he even spoke about/to adolph lovingly with his final breath.

he was only with ivan for a few months, and i cant help but see it as him playing house while trying to comfort ivan and cope with his breakup. yeah ivan was kind to him, but so was adolph.... for ten years.

so i cant help but to feel pain for adolph. he not only has to deal with the premature death of his partner, but the guilt of his (many many) mistakes. he never got to say goodbye or properly apologize and his partner died in someone else's arms. i don't think he'll ever find peace.

anyways, this story hurt. i recommend "incidentally living together" to anyone looking for a sad BL drama without the tragic ending

Adolph did not deserve lewis.
maybe he "deserves love", but not from lewis. no, never from lewis.

the four years lewis suffered in does not make up for the ten years they spent being happy together.
because every day for those four years it felt like HE**, it felt like FOREVER not just four years.
Adolph did not just cheat once or twice, but for four whole years. and NOT only did he cheat on him,
he ABUSED him for those while four years, r/ped him for more than i could think of.
made him feel like he had NOTHING to offer but his body!
made him feel likes he’s ugly, and hideous.

and he wasn't just playing house to cope with his break-up with Adolph.
sure he didn't move on, and MAYBE he didn't love ivan.
but he spent his time with ivan as a "repay" for his kindness. and maybe that made lewis cope in some way.

and why lewis offered to have s/x with ivan was because adolph made him feel like he had nothing else to offer but his body!

and, yes he will never find peace since his NO-longer-lover died in someone else's arm, and i truly hope he never finds peace.
Adolph DESERVED everything that happened to him. he deserved his ending.
let's not forget he also made another side character feel like sh/t.

@captain save a hoe Learn to read between the lines. They might have had happy moments, but this was quite obviously a very unhealthy relationship almost from the beginning. It didn't start with the cheating. He gave up everything for Aldolph. His education, his dreams, his family, his love of animals, he was isolated, had no friends, forced to stay home and play submissive housewife, not allowed to travel, worked himself sick to help his company, smoked and drunk until he threw up blood, he barely had any money (as the dr nicely pointed out) or posessions at the end of his life after 15 years of servitude etc. and Lewis indicated that he always had a bad temper not just at the end. And ra** and abuse is not a mistake, it's a crime and he should be in jail for it. A mistake is something unintentional. He didn't ra** him or beat up Troy accidentally.
