My favorite character in every story I read was always the MC, just being the protagonist made them my favorite character, call me fool but that's how it is, so at some point I always found myself defending them with all means, no matter what they do. I realized recently that by doing so I do injustice to all the other characters because I always accuse them without consideration. So I started to create stories in my head with the "villain" in the story I'm reading and try to make them the protagonists. I found myself understanding them more and defending them. Obviously not all characters can be defended, some are written just to be bad but I want to at least try to understand them all before labeling them as bad by nature.
Because everyone has a chance to explain themselves and be heard.
I just wanted to share this thought with someone, I know many think it is banal but I hope it can be enlightening for someone.
@Il_bello_dei_panda these things have enlightened me year ago when I found the backstory of villains saddened. Also, not only that heroes and villains both have backstory but villains suffered in it and heroes make it road for success and heroes overcome their past because they have friends or family with them but for villains they don't have people's in their side which makes the villains more villainous. But some villains aren't worthy for sympathy because they are villains without even suffering or they are made that way. Also, no protagonist aren't worthy for sympathy also because they killed every villains in the ending rather than supporting them from beginning. There aren't any protagonist that tries to help villains in the beginning rather killed them in the ending. So, I choose to imagine being neutral party neither from villains side or from protagonist side. Well, these was my enlightenment for you.
@Book THIS! This is something I started thinking about a long time ago, when in an anime an "antagonist" said that the hero was equally guilty because he had killed many people who also had families. I've always hated people who judge a person's actions without even listening to their reasons first. At a certain point, however, I asked myself how much I should justify people's bad actions. For example, if someone kills a person because that person raped his daughter, how much can I justify that action based on his story? Is it right that he killed him or not? I always have this doubt of how much I should understand someone before I can defend or accuse them. I'm always so excited when I can have a conversation with someone like this. I find enlightening talking to people.
@Il_bello_dei_panda well, killing doesn't gives justification because I have seen in the movie of Spiderman where Peter tries to kill green globin in there but other variants of Peter stops Peter. I don't remember what they say at that time but I know that they are consequences of killing person which we suffers and our surroundings also suffers like friends and family will have emotional and financials damage. Also, that's the reason today laws were created to stop people killing and in some countries for raping even without action of father that man gets dead. Well, if that man lives freely outside without getting dead penalty also not even going to jail in simply language he doesn't gets punished for his crime then That father killing that man doesn't need justification. Also, the thing people wants to be right is right for us because others put it that way or we were taught that way. In simple way killing a cockroach is good job why because people hate it and killing a butterfly is bad job why because people like it. But that people are collecting dead butterflies like a collection piece then people praise him. It is called peers pressure in another language you can search in Google or anywhere. Our mind simulation what's right and what's wrong by following other people.
@Book To explain my point of view I must first make a premise, I live in a state where the death penalty does not exist. I agree with this choice because I find it hypocritical that a state that condemns murder bathes itself in the same guilt, by killing the criminal. It is easy to say that If someone killed someone close to me I would be satisfied to see him rot in prison but I am sure that if it happened I would not be able to think that the punishment is fair, but I would like him to be killed too, probably though, if this happened, that person would become a victim and the people close to him would seek revenge and so an infinite circle. Because hatred always generates more hatred. Theoretically speaking the best solution is prison. The problem however arises when the perpetrator is neither accused nor incarcerated but is free to live normally, you said that then a person would not need justification to kill him, but I do not think that is the case, because the moment you kill him you automatically become guilty. Murder, although in some cases it makes us doubt it, is never the right choice.
People always tend to follow the crowd and accuse the bad and reward the good according to the model that society presents to us. But not everyone always follows these rules, some only react to their own principles or thoughts. Some time ago, I don't remember very well, there was a car accident where the driver collided with a family killing a little girl. This man, clearly guilty because he had exceeded the speed limit and was drunk, was then taken to court and sentenced to prison.
Your image of the cockroach and butterfly made me remember this event, because after he was sentenced, a series of people began to protest to release him just because he was handsome. What do you think? Some people tend to follow beauty above justice, perhaps because of how human beings are made?
I'm sorry if it's written badly but I had deleted it by mistake and had to rewrite everything...
@Il_bello_dei_panda well, nowadays people get enough justice ⚖️. But before 20 to 30 years ago. Justice wasn't implemented properly and people tends to chose or apply justice by themselves that's why people laws are strict nowadays but still in some country it isn't implemented properly which makes people doubt. Also, murder isn't choice, it is the option which is left to that man who didn't get justice. Also, seeing these I remind another thing is that when a blind person accidentally kills a insect by stepping on it. It won't be sin if you see from the blind person side but when you see from insect side what thought would be yours? It's our way of seeing what gives us what's right and wrong. But people always choose to see it from one side. And the infinity circle happens if the person ( the raper )getting killed is rich or from powerful family mostly. Also, I have said that there are consequences of killing humans life which is suffer from both side of people the killer and the one getting killed.
@Il_bello_dei_panda I know this incident where a mother and daughter was murder by guy who have blue eyes and his height was good and he is guilty and he is suffering from 20 to 40 years of prison I think. Also, I still remember father of daughter crying because it went viral on social medias. My thoughts on it is that, that guy should be punished because the father needs justice ⚖️ and I know it's very painful to loses a family members. Nowadays people way of thinking is changed as we get to see and live in comfort which people laugh at others suffering. Womens are interested in others thing like make-ups, beauty of their own and handsome mens. For mens also it haven't changed, men used to laugh when 100 peoples are dead in movies whereas search in google in why does the dog dies in that movie? I'm laughing when I see it, I also didn't notice it when I found out.I still remember a saying from a world famous boxer mike Tyson, nowadays internet make it possible for people to insult and teased others without getting a punch on the face.
@Book But precisely because what is wrong and what is right is a subjective thing we need the law to give us an objective vision of what is right and wrong. But the law does not immediately condemn what is considered wrong, in fact there are trials in which, through lawyers, everyone has the opportunity to explain their point of view and thus prove their innocence or guilt. As unfair as it may seem that a criminal has the opportunity to be defended by lawyers, I find that this is the result of human development. The right to be defended is given to every single human being without distinction. I find the law in this sense fascinating. Life, as you said, is changing, it's an inevitable fact, if we want to continue living the world must change but these changes do not always bring good. I have a real deep hatred for "keyboard lions", that is, those who write what they want just because they feel protected by the screen, because I'm sure that if they had the person they are insulting in front of them they would not have the courage to make fun of him.
The worst thing about all this is that insulting has become a trend, people feel the need to criticize and judge others without knowing anything. People who have not yet developed their own thoughts, especially teenagers and young people, are conditioned by the crowd and the internet is the fastest way to create these crowds. I hate how people act without informing themselves first because they don't understand that their actions have huge consequences. A while ago there was a suicide case of a boy named Vincent, this boy made videos on tik tok and was quite popular. A news about him came out accusing him of pedophilia, as soon as people heard about it they immediately started sending him messages of hate and death publicly and privately, in the end the boy couldn't take it anymore and killed himself. Vincent did not even have the chance to justify himself because everyone had already blamed him. In the end it was discovered that the accusation was false and that the boy had never done anything wrong. When I hear news of injustice like this I always find an infinite anger inside me. I often find myself wondering why and not finding satisfactory answers.
@Il_bello_dei_panda before also I feel incredibly rage as I heard about this kind of news. But later when I learn about policy and terms of apps. Those apps policy and terms really gives us warning about that this thing will happen. All the people simply ignore the policy and terms goes straight to using the apps without following the rules then later their parents file case against the people who faithfully make these apps for good reasons and uses. Upto no company has said they made their products for bad uses instead these people totally ignores it's good uses and use it for bad purposes. The inventor of Instagram Mark Zuckerberg was on court because more than 1000 girls were in nudity case and all of these girls suicide. The rage you feel is probably for three reasons you are angry at those who fell victim to these cases, the one that make them fell victim to these cases and Lastly at yourself for not helping them. I feel angry for these reasons not sure about you. Last time I saw on news that a innocent girl suicide because her naked photo went viral on internet and do you know how did it happen is that girl fell victim to some boy and she would rather suicide than seek for revenge. I was thinking how does this kind of people exist in this society. Her story was like this she freshly made a Facebook account for asking questions with teachers in school then an unknown boy sent friend request to her and she accepts it and she fell into his trap. Later the news company gets money for spreading this news and that boy goes to jail ( he will get out of jail early because our country laws aren't strict ) and the girl dies and her siblings and parents cry for her. That's why I don't interact with social media that much because it can be dangerous and for notes also I would rather bring notebooks than ask for notes with my friends in online and I don't like post in social media about me also because i know it can be dangerous.
