@Mizispink_strapon in 1861 slavery existed just because people don't wanna get reminded of their history doesn't makes the one showing it racist. If you want to honor black people then I do believe respecting their history is must as they are the one who suffered. And it's historical accurate. Black people did suffer and still are suffering. Also it seems like our MC is against it as well.
@Uriel91 well number one in America it wasn't only black people, and the man is native American. Two, he introduced himself as a slave, dehumanizing and putting himself on a position lower than the white man. It doesn't quite matter if the MC dislikes it as it still stands that it is a relationship that shouldn't be portrayed.

Girl this is doing the complete opposite of "respecting their history" it rewiteing it to look at of a different point of view "oh yea it slave x master but he not a bad master who used to eat,beat and do a bunch of other inhumane stuff people of color he's a good one and this a cute story 😉 " girl no slavery was disgusting and really bad and it should never be romanticized to smth like this jaxx just wrote an amazing book and could have chosen to write about anything else and it would have been big but she chose this... girl no I gold she saw how problematic and I really you guy should to.
