@ShadowX growth as in power is not "character development," in this case, it was just result of it, a way to justify it, I think you would agree with me if she doubled her power just because she was insulted and beaten, it would've been stupid and bad writing.
But the reason for everything she's been through in the past decade or so is right in front of her, all the suffering, the hard work, the pain, how can she not power up now?
That's what I call good writing.
