@Gakuku I guess that you aren't Asian but yes rice cookers(the pressure cookers not the electronic ones) can explode
@XWing125 I've got a small electric one, and the steam gushing out is bad enough when I open it. I can imagine what steam pressure plus a faulty pot would do.

I have never heard people cook rice with a pressure cooker.

And I can cook rice with an electric rice cooker as well as using a rice pot. Also, eventho I've never tried, I know how to cook rice by steaming. I even know the new way of cooking rice by half boil-half steaming.
Still, never heard any of them can explode.

Well, maybe if they add some nitroglycerin while cooking, but...

The steam/pressure hole may be clogged.
The small ones get clogged with dried rice sl** more easily, because usually it's just a hole.
Bigger electric rice cookers usually have adjustable steam hole.

But, don't galactic navy officer use 3D food printer nowadays?
@Gakuku You can cook rice in a pressure cooker. It's supposed to make it really fluffy. And of course in our make superspecific items society, there's pressure cookers prioritized toward rice cooking.

As for the kaboom issue, when water turns to steam it expands, a lot. Meanwhile, a pressure cooker is meant to hold in that steam as the food is cooked, so it's tightly sealed during cooking.

So a flawed pressure cooker at high steam pressure means catastrophic failure when that flaw causes the sealing to fail.
