@s3lbstm0rd You assumed my race while accusing me of making assumptions. That's ironic. Also, where exactly is the "white savior complex" in what i said? I argued that depicting slavery in a historical setting isnt the same as endorsing it esp wen the story explicitly condemns it. If you think thats wrong explain why instead of guessing my ethnicity. You missed my point as well im talking abt the fandom's reaction. The bl community constantly romanticizes stories with grape, abuse, manipulation, kidnapping, and toxic power dynamics. Characters like Zhenya, Jaekyung, and others get edits, thirst comments, and ppl beg for redemption arcs despite everything they do. Meanwhile, a historical story that acknowledges slavery, doesn't glorify it and even has the protagonist free enslaved ppl gets treated as if it's endorsing slavery before the story has even unfolded. Thats the inconsistency im pointing out.
300+ bl count or smth هههه

@gaymensslut People DO criticize manhwas that have abusive dynamics, improper depiction of sexual assault, kidnapping etc. However, readers cannot singlehandedly take a manhwa down, thats something entirely dependent on the author. Jaxx happened to be rational and take accountability for their insensitivity as well as protect themselves from toxic fans. The white savior complex is exactly what you're praising about this story. A white hero freeing the poor enslaved poc, thats the white savior complex. This is not only strongly inaccurate but insensitive since it was implied the slaves (especially the ML) enjoyed working under the MC's family ranch, and I can assure no slave was satisfied or happy with their life during slavery. No, there isn't historically documented a white person saving slaves or a native american proudly declaring himself a "humble slave"
