RWBY first aired in 2013, and FF8 gunblade is in the late 90's, 1999 if you want an exact year. The only difference is one is a sword with a gun, one is a scythe with a gun
Calling it a reference as "stole" with such confidence, is truly baffling. Bet if there is any other reference you'd call it "stealing"/"stolen idea" which is the dumbest thing you could say. Author/artist throwing reference to series they like is da** common now.

@BananaSquash I wasn't talking about references, I was talking about the weapon itself and how Ruby would react to someone with a weapon similar design. And besides, this series has a ton of stolen references and everyone found it funny, it being that I read this series ever since it was aired here with many others, so you got no reason to be pis*** at me for trying to make a conversation with other reference seekers in this series...!
