@spencerthestud he's not normal looking, he has been given an array of goofy/dumb expressions and is deliberately drawn in this way. Taking it on a personal level to your(a human's and not a cartoon character's)looks is very weird after I clearly stated, that this comment is strictly on artistic choices made to draw this character and in graphic novels in general.
we all look "average" in real life and I enjoy to find the beauty and rawness of that, while at the same time I like the graficnovels I read to be beautiful and tasteful. Not gimmicky.
there exists "normal" looking characters in this genre of graphic novels, that depict them in a tasteful way.
I mean: looking "average" doesn't equal to also making stupid/goofy faces and being a cringe amount of naive.
I find this combination offensive exactly to us "average" human beings. It is reenforcing that beautiful people are more dignified, knowledgeable and overall better.
I questioned myself in the initial comment if this is superficial, but I think through talking to you guys I found where the aversion to this look comes and that's neither shallow nor superficial.
