Comment on ChapterUnder The Oak Tree - Chapter 135
The amount of people in the comments continuously infantilizing Maxi is soo annoying! She has repeatedly said she wants to do fulfilling work rather than just be a helpless noble woman/wife/mother. She doesn't want to just sit back and watch other people do things she could be doing if they gave her the chance to learn it too! Yes she not on the skill level of Agnes or Ruth yet but she can still do her part even if it's small. THATS ALL SHE WANTS! To be helpful to as many people as she can, and it that turns out to only be 5 people, than she would still be infinitely more happy, than if she sat there and let everyone protect her while she did nothing. She wants to GROW as a person guys! Stop saying she should just listen to all the men telling her to give up and listen to them. She is her own human being and should be able to fulfill her dreams like everybody else!!

@the20yo.catlady the problem with her is, she doesn't know when to stop. She has to understand her limits and stop before collapsing but if she were left to it, she would work until she collapses and eventually kills herself. And more than her dreams, the knights are concerned about what riftan will do if something happens to maxi. Riftan will simply go on a rampage and wreck havoc.
@the20yo.catlady  but we understand that, the thing is that she doesn't know when to stop. she's not that strong to make everything happend in the way that she won't and this is just annoyin
@Yonko4ever Then they should HELP her learn restraint instead of removing/denying her opportunities to gain more experience. She has already learned so much about controlling and conserving her mana. Yes she has overexerted herself in the past, but that is the past for a reason. She has learned from that and now knows so much more about herbal and medical remedies. And has learned several useful spells in healing, defensive, and offensive magic. The more she grows the more she should be allowed to test her limits or else she’ll never know of her full potential. And yeah them being at war isn’t  the best time for this, but it is the situation they are in so they might as well make the best of it. They need to stop treating her like she might break every bone in her body by stepping on a pebble and if they won’t, at least teach her how to I don’t know crush the fuc**** pebble or something.
And she shouldn't have to worry about Riftan flying off the handle all the time. Dude needs to learn how to express his care for her without yelling or turning into a raging maniac. Yes he cares for her deeply, but he also severely underestimates her abilities. His overprotection is under the guise of love and worry for her, but in reality it is literally stifling her. Maxi has shown so much growth and still has more to go, but Riftan is way behind her in the growth department. They can't have a simple conversation about her wanting to do more without him yelling “you’re a noble woman who shouldn’t have to do anything!” or scaring her into submission because he knows she isn’t the best at confrontation.
The most growth he has shown is allowing her to learn and practice magic, but with everything else in the relationship has moved like a foot or something and it is mostly his fault. If he’d just stop screaming at her and treat her closer to an equal in the relationship, then maybe she’d open up to him more and act within his concerns.
@the20yo.catlady Firstly, I love you for being so passionate and detailed. Secondly, I'll again add my two cents.
1. I agree 100% with all your points regarding Riftan. And I have been shouting and emphasizing this point on other sites, that they seriously need to COMMUNICATE! Maxi needs to come out clean about her past and Riftan has to get over his inferiority complex instilled because of his low status. And this will only happen if Riftan can stay in the room without shouting or if he can keep it in his pants after looking for more than 2 seconds at Maxi. (I also felt that someone like that mage might have been a better partner for Maxi, as they have braincells enough to converse and listen and understand the other party.) However, for now it doesn't seem possible given the situation, so we can keep that point aside.
2. They are knights, they are loyal to Riftan and bound to follow orders. Even if they understand Maxi's intensions, they need to follow their protocol and fulfill their duty. Knowing Riftan we can very well understand their fear, if Maxi gets even a scratch he will act like an enraged bull who cannot be reasoned with. So they have to follow their order and try to preserve themselves.
3. To your point that Maxi has learnt from her mistakes and will not do the same, given the critical situation, do you think if she will see people dying or crying in pain right in front of her, she would hesitate one bit and think about herself, imo, no! She will work herself to death.
@the20yo.catlady she is not at any level to help. Her magic isn't even developed and she's clumsy and doesn't take care of her health. If she took care of her health, no one would bat an eye but she doesn't and ends up being an inconvenience to everyone. She isn't growing in any way. She is a woman who behaves like a child, so she ought to be treated as such until she grows up.
