@Katherine ah the presentation jitters.
1-I looked at people's hair line. they think you have masterful presenters ability to talk to the room, it looks to others you are making eye contact, no risking getting into a starring contest with anyone in particular. unless you have an amazing friend you can stare down so the rest of the rooom fades away and you can pretend you are practicing.
2- provide a visual. I had to do a book summery and I brought a distracion for the class- a book relevant- chocolate cake made in a cassarol dish. 1/2 the people were looking at the cake. it was fantastic.
if you have a visual that is more than just a bullet list, people will look at that more than you. and it can help keep you on task.
3- drink plenty of water before, suck on a mint or chew gum to prevent your mouth from drying up. Or strategically bring up a water bottle and when you need a second, take a sip.
4- if you are going to present on something, make the most effort possible to really know what it is you are presenting on. watch somethign on youtube, get an audiobook from the library and listen to it while you sleep. conficence comes in part, comes from knowledge.
5- record your presentation and listen back to it. people find it easier to copy/ mimic things they see/hear other people say/do. maybe listening to yourself wth a full script, will help that info go through the learning input part of the brain.you can critique what you say better. audio is enough for most cases, put if you video record, you can practice your use of visuals for the most impact
