@Katherine if you wear glasses (like me) took it off and then everyone will look like blur creatures this is the only plus point of bad eye sight
If you don't wear glasses then try not to make eye contact with classmates or just think all the ppl infront of you is potatoespepe sticker
@Katherine I would not suggest not making eye contact, I dont think that solves any problems. Infact it makes you less confident and sets you up for a harder time the next time you are asked to present.
Instead try to present to specific people in the crowd. What I mean by this is when you are presenting instead of focusing on the crowd try to focus on your teacher or judge or any classmate that wants to lesson, make eyecontact with them and give the presentation to them. If you are focused on actually explaining your topic to one of them its likely you will forget about the crowd. Also change the person u are presenting or making eyecontact with every 30 sec to 1 min and focus on someone else then its fine to come back to this person after another min.
You will be just fine all the best
OOPS IGNORE THE FIRST COMMENT I ACCIDENTALLY SENT. Ok so i recommend looking at he back of the class like the wall or at the ceiling. Also you should usually try thinking of smth like "If anything bad happens its not my fault"
@Lews   i will try and hope my teacher wont say anything like your classmates arent on the ceiling pepe stickeranyway thank youu so so much
@Katherine ah the presentation jitters.
1-I looked at people's hair line. they think you have masterful presenters ability to talk to the room, it looks to others you are making eye contact, no risking getting into a starring contest with anyone in particular. unless you have an amazing friend you can stare down so the rest of the rooom fades away and you can pretend you are practicing.
2- provide a visual. I had to do a book summery and I brought a distracion for the class- a book relevant- chocolate cake made in a cassarol dish. 1/2 the people were looking at the cake. it was fantastic.
if you have a visual that is more than just a bullet list, people will look at that more than you. and it can help keep you on task.
3- drink plenty of water before, suck on a mint or chew gum to prevent your mouth from drying up. Or strategically bring up a water bottle and when you need a second, take a sip.
4- if you are going to present on something, make the most effort possible to really know what it is you are presenting on. watch somethign on youtube, get an audiobook from the library and listen to it while you sleep. conficence comes in part, comes from knowledge.
5- record your presentation and listen back to it. people find it easier to copy/ mimic things they see/hear other people say/do. maybe listening to yourself wth a full script, will help that info go through the learning input part of the brain.you can critique what you say better. audio is enough for most cases, put if you video record, you can practice your use of visuals for the most impact
