Why do some readers assume killing stalking is BL if it really isn’t? I’m so confused about that

Is it like ORV where the author misleads the readers to attract more readers to want to read?

@Random commenter I've not read KS yet but I'd assume it's that case. I also see many people thinking and BELIEVING that KS is BL. But I'm not reading it because it might be that fuc*** up stuff AGAIN (I've read a lot of fuc*** up stories). And I really like ORV. It's that misleading one and there are some straight or normal non-romance stories where it can be pretty misleading. But I personally think we should be considerate of other's POVs or fantasies. If we don't like their opinion then we should just ignore it or skip it. But if the information that their opinion contains is wrong, then we SHOULD tell them the right info. Moreover, it doesn't matter to me that much?

I’ve never read the work either, but I’ve seen it come up in BL recommendation lists so often I assumed it was BL until recently. If I know someone is giving wrong information and care enough to correct the info, I will, but more often than not, I mind my business (because where I’m from, correcting usually means getting/starting an argument unless the other person is mature enough to realize you are just correcting a fact)

@Random commenter I also don't like arguing. And I just ignore it cuz it's not really ANY of my business. Why should I waste my time on things when I can be just sitting and trying out new manhwas?
@Random commenter I believe cuz KS just got to the BL fandom somehow. Then it got popularised and marketed by people with BL related accounts on social media (yt, twt, tiktok, etc.) and no one really considered it a psychological horror comic anymore but just another toxic BL. I think it's all cuz of how the marketing took place. Now people always say it's a BL cuz it was always under the BL category in websites like this and social media platforms. I doubt all of this will be the case if it wasn't so popular honestly.

any guesses on the somehow? Cover art, maybe the author was vague about the guy’s preferences until the specific chapter they clarified or something. You are right, if the work wasn’t so popular, the controversy would be forgotten/overlooked. Considering the campaign, it may have been targeted at BL readers since the genre is popular nowadays

It's not yaoi it's not bl it's not even romance
"A complete subversion of the genre. This webtoon showcases an abusive and toxic relationship that is in no way loving. The author herself even went out of her way to say that the comic isn't supposed to be romanticized."

@Random commenter the author specifically said that one of the main characters was heterosexual and stated multiple times that she does not like the manhwa to be considered a bl or even a romance. the readers took the part where two guys had s** and made that the whole point of the manhwa where it was just ra**. they are feteshizing gays and its disgusting the misunderstanding that ks is a bl is actually really harmful and not only does this whole marketing thing destroh the reputation of a really well written horror manhwa but also the reputation of qu*** media in general. people thought it was cool and quirky to romanticise a serial killer sangwoo with a phycologically underdeveloped yoobum. at the end of the day its just a whole thing wiith feteshizing gays and romanticizing legit violence and trauma. ks was great in terms of the art, complex characters, and showed like memtal illness and trauma overall a really great manhwa ruined by STUPID A** FOJUSHIS AND MARKETIN

Nah cuz. I somewhat relate
I didn't read KS because it's not my cup of tea to trink
But still they went a bit overboard with that whole fetishism
@normie

thanks for enlightening. Sheesh, a work of art derailed from its original intent due to one scene/chapter. But it also shows how immature/herd mentality we as people live by. Up until now, I always thought KS was of the BL genre and since I don’t care for stories with sexual violence, never cared t read it.
