Bruh, throughout her whole life, her opinion and feeling were always disregarded. She didn’t receive enough love from her one and only family. Her lover feels disgusted opon seeing her. The whole socity looks down and despises her. As she has said, she is now fed up and has had enough of being treated with contempt. It’s normal for a person who has been looked down for so long yearn to have rights and repect.
Your so called “gruff” personality of Max is not so fitted, I believe the suited words for his personality is prideful and selfish. He gets and he wants and he will make sure to get it. In a relationship, if both sides have no mutual respect then the relationship is done for. Like Jubelian said, if I were in a relationship where my parner has no ounce of respect for me, with that bullshit of an attitude, I would be da** sure to dump them too.
And Max is not the only one that is leaving his comfort zome, she is too. Yes, I’m kinda lashing out because I’ve been in her shoes before and dear lord it was not very enjoyable when people treat you like a piece of dog sh**.
