This is the sort of work that would take an entire construction crew months if not years to accomplish even with power tools. Then there is the danger aspect, there is a reason why hazard pay exists, because people will naturally pick work that doesn't involve risking their life without compelling reasons over work where they can die.

@User.1099852  So if it was 20 years ago they'd likely still have sperm from sperm banks enough to impregnate a few years worth of women, plus losing almost all men would force society to swap work roles very fast, not every woman of age would instantly be trying for a kid. Reasonable assumption is the late teen girls here are the first kids of that effort, and are likely at least 25% smaller than previous generations. It'd be odd that the new kids born wouldn't be a 50/50 split unless there was a significant delay in stopping the virus so most new male babies died.
