@HighOnYaoi Jinhyeong’s relationship with his father is a trauma bond. Traumatic bonding is when a person who is being abused develops a strong emotional attachment to their abuser, often because of a cycle of cruelty and affection, along with a power imbalance. The abuser may hurt or mistreat them at times and then act loving or kind afterward, which can make the victim hold onto the hope that things will eventually get better.

The term “trauma bonding” has caused a lot of people to misunderstand what it actually means, but that’s not what it refers to. What people usually call “Stockholm syndrome” is actually closer to what trauma bonding means.

One room TA - Ch. 61

I’m crying right now. My heart actually hurts. Why did the author write this so realistically and so well? It’s so painful and feels way too real. My heart can’t handle it. I feel so bad for Song Rik. They’re both just broken kids. I hate their parents so much.

I feel like people don’t really understand that it doesn’t matter how much hardship you’ve been through, you still can’t invalidate someone else’s pain. Pain isn’t a competition. Everyone’s pain is valid, and bad people aren’t simply born bad. A lot of abusive and terrible people have trauma of their own; they’ve suffered too, but that doesn’t justify their harmful behavior.

Song Rik’s behavior is understandable considering his trauma, his mindset, and everything he’s been through, but it doesn’t make it justifiable. He’s still abusive and in the wrong. What he needs is to distance himself from Jinhyeong, meet some responsible adults who can actually help him, and get counseling and Therapy

I just hope that now that he’s grown up, he’s in a better  and healthy environment and has realized that his behavior was wrong

No but why the glass thing?? That hurt me physically as a person who wears glasses 😭

I can't believe how refreshing it is to see a healthy couple who communicate properly, have flaws, and actively work through them. This is great, especially after watching too many toxic relationships. 🤭💗

@expensivegirl I think it’s good because some people genuinely don’t realize that this kind of behavior isn’t okay. There are so many kids who read s*t/BL without understanding consent, and they might develop unhealthy ideas about it. I’m saying this because I was once one of those kids, and some comments really helped me understand consent better. Especially because I’m from a country where s*x education basically doesn’t exist, and talking about sexual topics is taboo, so parents don’t really teach you about consent, healthy relationships, or safe s*x. Comments that point out why certain behaviors are wrong genuinely helped me. I also think people can read things they find morally wrong—I personally do.
