I don...
basic premise is a guy befriends a mermaid who ends up being extremely obsessive, manipulative, and murderous. we basically have to watch as the protagonist's mental health spirals out of control the more and more he interacts with this mermaid. my top five manhwa of all time, sadly very underrated.
also Like Mother, Like Daughter. the MC discovers her mother murdered her younger brother. very compelling narrative where the MC tries to outsmart and prove her mother guilty.
the person above me recommended Phantom Whispers/A Ghostly Song, i second that. there's a murderer crueling killing people. the MC can hear the voices of ghosts and tries to track down the killer with their help.
lastly, Girl Under Trial/A Girl's Trial. the MC watches her handsome classmate murder someone late at night. she uses this knowledge to blackmail him into dating her. this one is fully complete with like 100+ chapters. crazy emotional rollercoaster with a morally gray MC.
.
they totally butchered Huang Ji (the MC) by getting rid of all the subtle little details that made him an interesting narrator. in the novel he purposely acts simple-minded because that's how people perceive him & that skewed POV makes it easier from him to get away with doing stuff that would usually be suspicious. although they talk about his intellectual disability in the manhua, it doesn't really play a part in the narrative and the people around him don't really seem to treat him differently.
.
also i feel like Huang Ji's burden from his "omniscient data" ability was watered down. for many years he had so much information presented to him with no idea what it meant, so he had a lot of his potential stunted. even though he got older, his ability was still overwhelming & hard to understand. equally as important was the pure fear that he felt when finding out there were maneating aliens on the moon. why does the manhua just brush over that fact? these are major parts of his character that make him more rounded.
.
and omg this is more minor, but Huang Ji has double pupils, so it looks like he has a white ring inside his pupils (always imagined it would look like when a ring light is reflected in your eyes). what happened to his double pupils 😭😭 why'd they get rid of that
.
sorry for the very long rant. The Omniscient isn't even my favorite novel but it sucks to see it getting butchered so badly.
man is this comment satire 😭? why wouldn't he be afraid of a killer mermaid who can drown anyone instantly from anywhere in his house? that's literallyhorrifying

Like, the boy is such a pu***. You have a perfect yandere GF, ...

Lefanta was a really bad bullying victim back in Korea. Gongja becomes "immersed" as a character in his memory after they fight and Lefanta kills him. he basically lives as one of Lefanta's classmates with every person (except Lefanta himself) in the memories being replaced by someone Gongja knows irl (ex the classmate's gf becomes Laviel)
.
Lefanta's real name is Kim Yul. in school, his bully, Hwang Eunseo, did everything in his power to make Kim Yul's life miserable. there was only one person in the school who cared for him, but was too nervous to actually speak up about it. this was revealed to actually be the director of the orphanage Gongja grew up in.
.
Kim Yul jumps from the top of the school building and then reincarnates as Lefanta Aegim in the Tower.
.
Gongja then helps Kim Yul gain closure by making the 29th floor of the tower basically a redo of Kim Yul's school life (thanks to the creepo Librarian).
.
Gongja fully immerses into Hwang Eunseo (the bully), so the orphanage director (who entered the tower a little earlier) & Kim Yul work together to get their get-back and clear the 29th floor.
