Sadly that's main trope for a manga like this, it is supposed to be a feel good Cinderella-alike story,
you hardly see some proper actions in even more action focused ones because of how strict(?) japanese cultur is in that regard.

@Willio2000 easy fix would have been to explain that when fighting against monsters it makes more sense to protect the limbs, fighting against humans is a different task afterall

is it maybe a reupload from a different translator? because when I read it there was some implication that this could be the reason but they just stated that the "real" reason would be "swords are harder to learn" what is utter BS 🤷♂️

learning effectively fighting with an axe is much harder as you have a very restricted hitting area

That's not my point, the point is how they explained it.

If they explained it like you said it wouldn't be an issue and this missing piece is what I want!

They never said: "Oh you have already experience with axes so we keep focusing on that"

They said: "Swords are harder to learn" and that's a lie

If you haven't enough money you focus on the body and the head, not the legs! It's cheaping out on the ONE thing that can keep you alive, you can lose a limb and survive, but getting your gut cut open is certain death!
