@B I think you may be onto something, but if im not mistaken I think he made those promises based on previous voyages? inda lk hey we've invested $10 and got back $50. So if we invest $50 we'll get 5x back.

Da**... That was so badass!! I think I kind of fell in love with her in this scene. The character growth at least in terms of self reflection is great. If she were a FL who regressed and decided to follow a different path I think that many would come to support her. She's a crappy character the whole time and with this scene we realize that she was just a clueless and dumb girl who finally realized she made many mistakes.
For the first time ever, I'm not mad at the romance.
The way I was giggling through all the chapters! We've been blessed!!!!

@Mistress Maya This was exactly my thoughts when I read the novel. It's not lk it was a Royal ship they were invested in. Moreover, I also find it wierd that the Baron is liable to pay the loss either. It's not lk he committed fraud and by their nature investments are risks that aren't guaranteed. Unless the Baron agreed to be legally liable for any losses he should not be forced to repay anybody

@H i s o k a it was never lk that. She really did love him as a son, but when he started to exhibit all that awful behavior to her kid and go on a trajectory that would have doomed them she turned against him. While she seemed lk a typical evil stepmom she wasn't. She never hurt him or did anything against him other then advocate for her son to become the heir and become cold to him.
