I feel bad for the prince but then again he did it for his people but it's stupid when he could literally do something else to help his people like do trade with other kingdoms or some sh*t.

@Rin un they're suffering a great famine bruh what do you want them to trade when they can't even feed their own people?
@Harry Godspeed they literally could ask for money from other kingdom and repay it back after they use it to like help grow crops or land

@Rin un the great famine was sudden so their leaders didn't have time to react. The people were hungry and their leaders was very desperate. Not to mention, there was the curse of the necromancer
@Rin un they also were borrowing resources from other sources but even that method had its limit, so they were literally really out of options. Even their rations was only going to last for 3 months

And as for trading?
They can train their people as mercenaries and send them to other countries to earn money.
They can sell their people as slaves to other countries.
Starting a war saves their pride as a country.
Just depends on what kind of villain/anti-hero you want to be.
