@Cenholi  yes that's the other way of seeing his character as well. It's how the writer portrays the complexity of supposed human personality just like in real life we don't believe that there's someone who is an absolute gentleman and an absolute ass****. I mean there's good and bad within us. He wasn't completely nice but wasn't completely arrogant like his fiancé and Riette. I don't think he was looking down on her, if he did he could've ignore her existence, she's a nobody anyway, a family of his hired help. But he is interested in her, that's why he is chasing her. You would ask why chase her when he got a fiancé? He is interested, but not yet at the point of proclaming love and chose her. There's circumstances in the storyline, the progression. It's not fairytale that that chose love and live happily ever after

@KittyCat  ik btw srry i clicked by mistake
I mean I understand that it's not a fairytale n just a story but I just speaking Abt the wrongs idk think anyone would find it appropriate to look at some other women kiss them or pursue them while hving a fiance also i do know they r not in love but i dot the idea that layla looks like the other women or mistress n i know we hv bads n Good in us but we should always try to show the good cuz we expect that too , he was way too arrogant just cuz his hired n works for him doesn't mean he can treat her like a toy thing to play with that  crazy, also Abt no being that much in love to confess but atleast could hv treat her right i don't think his previous behaviour was in any way alright even borderline harassment n sexual assault, I m saying things bc I hope nobody sees him as ideal
@KittyCat  I still think he does really love her if we r taking Abt love definition wise he likes the control n vulnerability n layla is trauma bonding lol will still read cuz of the art I will speed read ig thanks for replying
