The duke decides to visit her. After her return to the mansion he never visited her once and after all that happened with Penelope he ended up neglecting her. The duke had put her into a guest room on the 1st floor and rejected her request to visit her old room on the 3rd floor because he was worried about her coming into contact with Penelope on the second floor. The duke arrives at her room and asks if she's okay. He received reports that she was too sick to eat but when he looks at her she looks perfectly healthy.
She calls for refreshment. After Penelope's coming of age ceremony the duke had distanced himself from Yvonne out of guilt towards Penelope. He thinks he is a terrible father with no idea how to treat his younger daughters. Yvonne pours them tea and he tells her that she's welcome in this household. But also asks her not to blame Penelope. He thinks it's his fault Penelope is crooked but says she doesn't have a bad heart so he hopes Yvonne understands.
Yvonne cries blaming herself for what happened and asks has Penelope been found. The duke tells her not to worry as she can take care of herself. The duke notices that despite the tears in her eyes, her face is expressionless like a doll and feels spooked. The duke tries to change the subject and asks if there is anything she wants as she must be uncomfortable stuck in her room. The head maid is out on sick pay and one of the missing employees is Yvonne's new maid, Leah.
