Honestly, that upgrade was so cheap. The hype, effects and highlights are cool, but the upgrade just made Jiwoo more OP, not "transformed". He's still just "powering through" his opponents.

To provide an example, just so no one will say that I'm just hating:
In Legendary Blacksmith, although Greed is so OP, his peers are as OP as him but in their own unique ways. Even if you make another character as the main character of the story, it still holds out.
In the recent chapter of Infinite Mage, you might say that MC is so OP, but the manwha has a whole training arc that explains HOW he became OP, how different he is; that when the chapter describes to you an OP thing he did, you believe it.

At this point, this manhwa's fights are just armwrestling matches. Sure, you got a new technique, but at the end of the day, the one who can exert more strength over the other wins the armwrestling match.
You've got Mind Control, Extreme Speed, Gravity Manipulation, Wind Manipulation, Ice Manipulation, Earth Manipulation, Petals thingy, Aroma thingy, Regeneration and Healing, Toughness, Martial Arts, DOMAIN EXPANSION (imagine if the current opponent uses his Spatial Manipulation to create his own unique domain that counters Jiwoo's Speed),

And then we got "hurr durr my spear goes through your shield"
This "Concentrated force" has been used at least 3 times now in this story as plot device.
- jiwoo concentrated in fist
- spear jiwoo
- kayden
- shinwa lady
Is that just the new meta no one else in the universe knows about?
@Bane Dinjar I totally understand what you mean. So far, it has been the same. If Jiwoo faces against someone within his age range or title, he will miraculously power through, as long as he isn't fighting someone older than him, the question isn't whether he wins or not, it is how many chapters it will take. Although I like Jiwoo, I am honestly looking forward to one of the disciples beating his a** up. Even if it’s just one, at least, let it not go in the same direction. Struggle initially then go faster and power through. The last person he lost to was Jisuk, if I remember correctly, and that was more than 200 chapters ago
@Bane Dinjar

i totally see where you're coming from
but i think attackinghis speed as "hurr durr my speed goes through ur shield " is a bit unfair because that is the entirety of his technique.

Even when he wasnt doing it at max output like in the examples you mentioned, the core of his combat style was to dish out singular instances of strong dmg it was just whether or not he needed all of his strength to do it (hence the extended fights w/ those closer to him vs the faster fights against those stronger)

i do take your point where we dont really get to see the training so it isnt as "believable," but i disagree slightly just because jiwoo is a prodigy in combat and power utility w/ a mentor who is equally as innovative. Its cannonical that Kayden has honed and focused exclusively on combat power. A lot of his "power ups" come from him putting what kayden teaches him together and his instinct.

even here kayden developed a technique for him But it was up to jiwoo to figure out the best way to utilise it and when to.

Comparing his matches to armwrestling is actually very accurate because w the way his power is used in combat it comes down to who has either 1, the most power output or 2, the strongest defence. Its the nature of his ability not an issue with the universe.

speed doesnt allow the same flexibility that domain expansion, spatial distortion, wind, shadow manipulation, etcetcetcetc do bc its such a straightforward technique. Foist said it earlier really well, "its a simple technique but if you lack the powr you will fail" (smth like that)

i also want to point out that jiwoo has far more in combat experience than most of his peers. Again its canonical that those w higher power and of higher ranks avoid fighting bc of reprecussions, jiwoo and kayden being exceptions. His ability to dominate consistently can be easily and fairly tied (to an extent) to this fact. Shadow training and closed training which all the stronger rankers and disciples engage in CANNOT equal to consistent and challenging combat experiences.

that said, i do agree that it would be interesting to see him lose and see how he grows from it, but i an also guilty of enjoying an mc who learns in time through battle ultimately leading to victories too

Really sorry for the extensive messages, please don't take them as an attack, i mean no offense at all, I'm really sorry if it does came off like that.

i just think youve opened a really interesting discussion

@Fayfay like here kayden innovated a technique to boost that atk but it was up to jiwoo to figure out when to use it most effectively

speed doesn't allow the same flexibility that a lot of the other powers do (like the ones u mentioned) bc its so straightforward, again its canonical that jiwoo steuggled more than others if ppl know whats coming.

Comparing his fights to armwredtling is actually really accurate bc they do come down to either 1- who has a steonger instance of power or 2- who has the stronger defence, as roist said before "its a simple technique but if you lack the power youll fail" (smth like that)

i also think its important to point out that jiwoo has SIGNIFICANTLY more combat experience than a lot of other peers and disciples. Again its been noted many times that high rankers and their disciples dont like to fight bc of the power shifts and reprecussions that can happen.
@Fayfay oh it posted both versions sorry 😭😭

@Fayfay jiwoo also trained w kayden specifically for this fight!!
Obvi we dk how much the top10 disciples train w their mentors but im assuming they dont because of how much the top 10s (students and teachers) are referenced or shown as training in confinement!!
