I think the people who are blaming Annette (I don't know the spelling of her name) should reread chapter 15 and there Is a part that she says that she was born and raised wrong. And she thought there were thinks that she didn't have to understand and she knew where hes hatred came from so don't blame her for smiling as also back then ladies of nobles were taught nothing about politics and even if she read the newspaper she wouldn't know and I know he has gone through sh** but that's still doesn't explain why he treated her that way . Like bro you are the one with the feelings at first why are u blaming her for not being the type of person u thought she was .

I think it's because his ego was hurt and she is different from other ladies so he thought she would rely on him no matter what he did .and when she didn't do that, he became obsessed

You know most people reading this type of Romance want the fl to be strong but you also have to know sometimes people can be that confident in themselves as no one has ever encouraged them to be strong so of course the will have insecurities about things they do we just have to understand that fact I mean even in real time we all have insecurities and we try not to show them .so people who hate such fl try and understand her .
