His initial characterisation seemed to veer into that typical harsh ML that abuses the MC throughout the story. (I am glad he was quickly proven not to be, though)
The same can't be said about Joo. Like you said, his anger and violence is extremely realistic, and makes it very uncomfortable to read about. I don't want him to end up with Dan, but we all know he will. Smh
He has a total disregard to Dan's feelings, and gets off on his suffering.
But getting back to Kwon, I do hope he can put his pride aside, and own up for his mistakes and communicate rationally with Yeon-oh. I do wish them a happy healthy relationship as well. Especially when you see some manhwa brush things like that aside, and there's always this lack of closure, no apologies, etc
Um, who's good at acting Mr. Rich B i t c h ? You were the one giving a super innocent, inexperie...
I wrote an entire reply, and it accidentally got deleted😫
I agree with everything you said about TaeJu.

@Makora
I have twitter, but discord is better. I'll send you a request.
@aya
Let me know if you'd like me to add you or not as well.
I read this in one go ... and the two are soooo frustrating to watch!!! Is it miscommunication?
@Makora
That's what I hope! I truly hope Kwon will prove that he does care because they have gotten close. But I'm always reminded of the horrible things he said to Yeon-oh after the SA, and I just can't be sure. Like people say a lot of horrid things in anger and don't realise until they take a step back. And my concern is that Kwon might give over to his anger in the heat of the moment like last time, and say words he can't take back. And like you said, that might be the last straw for Yeon-oh, and it will be up to Kwon to chase him and earn his trust back. (Which, honestly, I think he needs to chase him regardless).
And as you both said, I'm also over all this ra** that goes on in these manhwa. Especially because it's never handled properly. There's never any talking about it, no healing, yet the MC always gets over it because they need to focus on the ML. I feel like I've only ever encounted one that was handled realistically, where it came back to the MC now and then, but I don't remember the name at all. Jinx also kind of does it because the SA and abuse from his past is what makes him so afraid of the ML at the start. But I know it's probably going to fall in the same brushed aside manner cause it's the same author of BJ Alex, and that was toxic too...so...

@Aya
I hope it's like Painter of the Night where Seungho always saves Nakyum right before anything severe actually happens, cause I don't want Yeon-oh to be r@ped either. Especially with how he reacted to just the SA, I figure a r@pe would be handled realistically, and I just don't want him to suffer. He's already been through so much. Like his life was finally going well, and here comes all these forces set on destroying him and trying to remind him that he's insignificant.
Your commemt to Makora made me remember the wrap party Yeoh-oh and the blonde went to. Kwon had showed up and stopped blondie from threatening Yeoh-oh with the recording, so maybe if he actually thinks back he can realise the blond is up to something!

The thing I like about TaeJu though, is that, even though he didn't realise he was in love with Euihyun
He treated Euihyun good. Like, he would never abandon Euihyun the way Kwon seems to want to get rid of Yeon-oh after his usefulness. Sure he will scold Euihyun, rightfully so because he is another very naive MC. But I feel like TaeJu's intentions are in a good place. Like, he does take his dads' words to heart and tries to understand Euihyun's feelings better.
Both Euihyun and Yeoh-oh are way too dependent on TaeJu and Kwon because they 1) both saved them, 2) are their first full sexual encounters, 3) have this odd relationship that makes them confused because they do act like lovers but there's a stipulation attached.
Honestly, I might just stay away from pearl boy for now just cause I know the author can be pretty graphic with their depictions of things.
And you're definitely right about Kwon and his rough play.
Um, who's good at acting Mr. Rich B i t c h ? You were the one giving a super innocent, inexperie...
Sadly, it's the rich mentality. The rich can do no wrong. Anyone poor is beneath them and can be treated as less than human. So Cho (I'll take your word for it since I didn't bother to remember his name) thinks Yeon is nothing but a money hungry actor who would do anything to even exist in the same room as someone like Kwon. 🙄 Meanwhile, Yeon just wants to cherish his first love.
Meanwhile Kwon will only be seen as taking advantage of any means to get the job done. So it's like he's doing something charitable by humouring Yeon-oh.
All I know, like you had ,mentioned before, Kwon needs to apologise for calling Yeon a wh***, and berating him after he tried to tell him about the SA.
(Part of me, a very small part, almost felt like Cho liked Kwon romantically. Or rather, wanted to be the only one Kwon depends on. I say this because it felt like his animosity toward Yeon-oh grew after he noticed the subtle changes in Kwon like Kwon was genuinely caring for Yeon-oh 🤔)
I haven't continued Pearl boy since the very early chapters. The r@pe scene had deterred me completely. It's so weird how some of these manhwa all line up. When something bad happens in one, something bad happens in another. Same when it's something good. I'm just happy things are going relatively well in Night at the Sea (aside from all the miscommunication).

@yoohan
I think it would definitely be worth rereading, just to possibly catch things that may have been missed the first time around. I might reread it as well, myself. And yes, Yeoh is definitely still every naive. I forget how old he is, but he seems to be a bit clueless to the fact that there can be people who wish to deceive and hurt others just because they can. The way he thought he would never have to see the loanshark again after paying off his father's debt.
I read this in one go ... and the two are soooo frustrating to watch!!! Is it miscommunication?
@aya
I actually want Kwon to meet the loanshark as well. I want him to realise the reason why Yeoh-oh was so good at bjs was because of this man who exhorted s3xual favours from Yeoh, while taking back the money from his dad. Also, the grim reality that this loanshark doesn't care solely about the money since when he SA'ed Yeoh he made it clear that he's a gangster and whether the loan is paid in full or not, he will harass Yeoh if he feels like it.
Honestly, him and the blond actor are a good match for eachother. Both are toxic characters or want to see others suffer if they do well.
I really do hope that Kwon doesn't end up being that dark, it's only that his past actions currently make it unclear what he will do. I still think he cares about Yeoh-oh because he does remember him from the past (even though Yeoh doesn't remember Kwon) but Kwon is also perplexed on why he cares in the first place. But since the usb is about his mother, and the last time he really seemed to have emotions was when she was alive, it seems Kwon would do anything for her (ie, acting horrible to Yeoh). Lets just hope for the best when chap 57 releases.
But I definitely saw this all coming. It was lining up too perfectly. The actor needed to catch Yeoh by himself, and the only way that would happen was if he had a falling out with Kwon. And the only way Kwon would be able to identify his feelings is if somethine horrible happens to Yeoh and Kwon is affected by seeing Yeoh hurt.
Now that I think about it, I am glad that he kept the usb. Only because, if he had given it up Kwon would have cut off ties with him, and the actor and loanshark would've still had their plans for him, and Kwon would have no reasons to get involved. With the usb still in Yeoh's possession, Kwon will at the very least still go looking for him just to make sure it's safe.
I read this in one go ... and the two are soooo frustrating to watch!!! Is it miscommunication?
It's the way I can't believe Kwon just went along with what his assistant said, knowing full well that his assistant never trusted Yeoh and always tried to find a way to dissuade Kwon from using him. If anything, it's the assistant who seems most suspicious. (Because why did he go to find the usb on his own after Kwon told him not to?)
How could Kwon think Yeoh is acting, when he's been so honest about his feelings even after getting turned down before. Like, this boy was willing to go against his dad for you. Don't prove his dad right when he said that Yeoh shouldn't trust Kwon!!
I'm so happy Yeoh-oh's assistant actually cares for him and is already raising alarms after not being able to contact him.
Um, who's good at acting Mr. Rich B i t c h ? You were the one giving a super innocent, inexperie...
@Aya
That's what I'm afraid of. If the r@pe happens and Kwon, as usual, brushes off what Yeoh-oh is trying to tell him. Especially if out of anger he says something like "it wouldn't have happened if you had handed over the usb" which would be a lie, cause Loanshark and blond actor are out for blood and ahowed no sign at stopping one way or the other.
I just want Kwon to realise his faults. I like him as a character in general, and thinks he's a great fit for Yeoh, but it's his callous nature that I dislike.
It sucks that, this was Yeoh's one attempt at finally being selfish for once in his life to fight for something he wants (Kwon) and it backfired so horrendously. He already feels awful and pathetic over the whole thing, so a r@pe on top of that would be devastating. I just want someone to save and protect him.
Kwon was the first time he had s**, the first time someone treated him kindly, the first time that someone truly seemed to care about him. And to have it all blow up in his face is awful.
It's sad to see people actually hating on Yeoh, and wishing him ill though. That's insane.
I read this in one go ... and the two are soooo frustrating to watch!!! Is it miscommunication?
Was there a chapter beyond 56?
I'M SADDD ☹️ I UNDERSTAND WHY HE'S DOING THAT
i wanna hug him ☹️
AND I...
@Aya, ai agree with everything you said. But also, I think Yeoh-oh, did in fact try to tell Kwon about the attempted SA, but Kwon, like with this chapter, brushed him off and basically said he was making excuses. I remembered being super pis*** at him for that. Like, how could he be so callous toward Yeoh-oh.
And I honestly feel like Yeoh-oh should have just handed the usb over, because now that Kwon knows, there's no way they can go back to pretending everything is the same. But once again, Kwon should have stood his ground and repeatedly reminded the Yeoh that he will not have feelings for him. Acting as a boyfriend, and treating him so kindly did nothing but lead him on, and make his feelings grow deeper. And he can act betrayed all he wants by not getting the usb, but the truth is that he's done the same to Yeoh, except in that case, the thing on the line was feelings.
Like, if he would allow Yeoh to feel more secure, and let him get a word in, there would hardly be room for miscommunication. But he's so secretive, and wants things done his own way.
Now, we have to watch Yeoh suffer because he agreed to go meet that piece of sh** actor.
I read this in one go ... and the two are soooo frustrating to watch!!! Is it miscommunication?
Part of me believes he (the son) already knows the father is sleeping with Yeesu and is now trying to get back with him to pi** off the dad again. Because there is no way he can be so clueless about what he did to Yeesu, just waltzing back in like Yeesu was just supposed to wait around for him if he decided to come back,
I feel that bas**** is again using yessu bcz his father didn't get twisted the way he wanted afte...
The way I laughed at this comment. But yeah, these translations aren't it.
Eui definitely misses TaeJu, but I think it's only subconsciously since he doesn't realise that he may have feelings for him. He knows he's dependent on Tae and gives in to his affection, but because they have no commitment/ label to their relationship, he doesn't want to get attached. It all just causes him anxiety because he feels TaeJu can leave him at any time.
Also like I feel like he misses him?? But I have no idea cause the English is just not Englishing...
