Comment on ChapterI Thought It Was a Common Isekai Story - Chapter 81
WTF they changed it soooo much from the novel.
It wasn't like this AT ALL. Axel orders her head to be chopped off, and Killian takes that role. And this idiot just streches are head saying nothing. She let's go of any hope willing to die at Killians hands.
And Killian stops his sword and then argues that she's a Rudwick n not a Reigloff. And that their marriage certificate is still at dukedom and the Duke can go verify.

The Duchess gains coincious. But she does not doubt Reeze Or Cliff. But does support that Edith wasn't involved in the kidnapping. Also that she was the one struggling to save them the most.

It is also supported by the aid (If forgot his name) and Ediths personal maid of dukedom who were secretly appointed by Killian to save Edith. The maid is also tortured by the Duke's men for denying claims on Edith not being a traitor.

So yes, there's a lot going on here and that what makes the next arch waaay more satisfying.
Spoiler!
And the 3rd exception is met. 3rd exception was that she gives up living and willing dies. Crazy bi*** reeze.

@Ms._.Rao Weird thing to change...like what you've said sounds way more intense and interesting. This felt a little too simple and truthfully a bit cheesey that "everyone" was on her side suddenly...it also felt very quick. Like there wasn't enough fight.
@Ms._.Rao Yes exactly, not only that but they also completly removed all of her bruises and wounds. In the novel she was tortured. Her entire face was swolen and bruised and when she bend her neck to die her shawl fell and everyone could see how much she was abused. It was such an emotional scene and Killeon being the one to believe in her innocence felt so much more special. I also feel like they washed out how hopeless she was. It doesn't feel like she's walking to her execution. It was supposed to be the moment when all the emotional and physical abuse became too much and she finally gives up which, SPOILER:
IS the third stage exemtion condition. She needs to accept her end and not fight it.
This feels really rushed and changed in a way to put the spotlight on other people instead of eir main couple.
@gingerbreadgirl i really liked the part where Killian stands up for her against his dad, when all his life he just wanted his approval. But he values her more than that acknowledgment from his father. That was soo good. And also the fact that the Duke and his wife still be swayed by reeze even after all this drama shows that even beyond control of the plots they accepted her, they still treated Edith as an outsider. Cliff was still the successor and he's a real jerk.

To be perfectly frank, the events you describe here aren't any better...Quite the opposite, even. Only the fact killeon is the one to execute her, has some appeal. But how he magically changes course all of a sudden is just sloppy AF. Last minute resolution while going for the slash? Nah, why not have g** himself descend from the sky while you're at it? And from previous comments on previous chapters pointing out the differences with the novels, I guess his behaviour in the novel is pretty much always flickery like that. At least in this adaption his behaviour is coherent.

Also..The fact she accepted and wished for death only after torture, as if to put an end to the actual suffering, is also lame. (gore for the sake of it doesn't make a story good.) She just chooses to runaway, like any weakminded person would in such circumstances. Here, the psychology leading her to 'coldly' come to this conclusion, not only is more badass, it is also more meaningful in the sense she wasn't just beated up half dead on repeat until her mind broke, this is a decision and resolve. The only black spot in this aspect of the story is the fact she never worded it out clearly, it just got offscreened even from herself. It would've been a better scene to see her get on her knees there and proclaiming she accepts death. (maybe even better with some cool phrasing about honor of something) The shock value, the reaction from the audience including the duke himself.. That could have been a tactful turning point for her being spared instead of this nonsense from the tomboyish princess.

Well. Anyway. The power of hindsight is the same when it comes to writing a story. It's always easier to point out flaws from a reader's perspective after dozens of chapters. Although there are some obvious pitfalls like the original killeon..I didn't read the novel and never will but from what I can gather this character singlehandedly makes the story total garbage. Sorry, not sorry.
@TotallyAbsurd yes Killian was flippant from the beginning. But that's because every time he swayed the author would exert more pressure on him to stay in plot so he was being mind controlled.  The rest of the chapters are similar/same as in novel except for a few skipped chapters that does not really affect the story much.
But Killian being the one to stop execution had a better affect. And no, he did not change is mind mid action of swinging his sword, as you can see he was desperately searching for her. And he took the role of executioner to prevent the actual murder from happening in the novel. As told earlier, no one at that execution ground was on Ediths side. Reeze was he** bent on having her slayed. So if it wasn't for Killian taking the stand she would have really died then and there marked as a traitor.

And she wasn't half beaten to submit to her demise even in novel. She had made all the plans to run off. But she took good 3-5 days to think things through before returning to the dukedom. If the plot was strong and she had no other place left to run off to what can a person do? She's been fighting against plots after plots and there's always a limit on how much a person can tolerate. So if her ending was to die as a villainess anyway, she chose that to happen at the hands of the character she genuinely fell in love with.
@TotallyAbsurd
Also the execution takes place in the dukedom in presence of the duke's family in the novel. No royal family involved. Heck they were not even present.

It not just depends on the reader's perspective but also how a story is narrated.

Yes it might be bad to compare novel against webtoon. But in essence webtoon is based of off a novel. So as someone who read the novel because I couldn't wait for the webtoon release it was a shocker that the story was altered to quite a great extent.

So it's just a comparison of original to encore. Then again novel can have freedom of chapters after chapters with explanation. But how can all that be drawn. So I'm just thankful there is someone out there working long hours drawing it scene by scene and update it at reasonable days😅.

So no hate for anybody on this topic. It's rather just a rant. But i do not agree on the story not being good. It's good in it's own way
