I'm sorry I have something to say a no one to listen to me, be careful it's a bit triggering.

I cried today because I really sat down and thought about myself and my life. I do not like myself, in fact, I realized that I hate myself. I am 22 years old and have been lying about myself and others for too long. I need to decide my life and work to be the person I want to be. I told my friend that if I don't do something worthwhile by the end of 2022 I will kill myself. I am too much of a coward even to do that, I don't want to hold on to crisis anymore. I am so tired. I am so so tired.

I kinda get that, but what do consider worthwhile?

I think, to often that people jump to big change when looking for meaning. What enables you to live doen't have to be life altering, or even mildly important. It could be anything you want or like ya know? Stay alive to eat some more of your favortie food, stay alive to read another chapter of your favorite books, stay alive to a get a cat or something.

We should all spend more time apprieciating the little things, even talking to you here in the middle of the night has made my day alittle more fun.

But I don't know sh**, please be sure to hit up qualified ppls : 988lifeline(.org)

If you think there are still things you want to do then you are not ready to end your life.  Live so that when the time comes for you to leave there will be nothing to regret.  There are still many things you can try to do, start with small things, just like when we practiced walking when we were little.  I'm sure you can, I'm sure you are strong, let's fight together. ୧( ಠ Д ಠ )୨

i second @Carnivorous Spaghetti Monster's comment

live for the simple things in life, so ull always feel satisfied with what u have, which in turn leads to greater appreciation for life. even if u arent achieving great things, have an exceptionally high-status or well-paid job, there may just be tiny little things that brings u happiness which u may have overlooked in life. for instance, drawing brings me comfort and reassurance in my saddest times.

main point is, always keep a positive outlook in life. As the saying goes, "Good things come to those who wait." take one step at a time and ur bound to find immense joy in living.

Also, don't resort to actions that are life-threatening or self-harming just to escape from reality. face it, and always believe in urself.
however, do know that if u really feel at a loss or dont know how to get urself back on track, please seek help.

Hey sweetheart ,been through that phase.

This is what I do to calm down just give it a quick read and remember its okay to not be okay we are humans nobody can feel happy and positive all the time we need an outlet to vent how dark and negative we are feeling but never let them overwhelm you.

When my goals seems faraway and I feel myself not being fit for it I reassure myself . I need to be patient , tolerant and forgiving when I am trying to  accomplish my goals and ambition.

So darling let those emotions out be it by venting, sleeping ,taking a rest ,reading or watching something do it, but don't be too hard on yourself .

If you can give assurance ,love, kindness , warmth and be a little forgiving to yourself. you yourself will inturn be the  biggest strength to preservere through the highs and the lows.
Ps :- Reach out for help, when it gets too hard and you really really don't know what to do about the feelings overwhelming you please seek support of you loved ones and professionals.

thank you all for your kind words, i guess i have to take it day by day. it's hard because some days i wish that i did not wake up, i wish i could be someone else, i wish that i could be gone. i think i have taken comfort in being sad and it becomes greatly self destructive.

i want to feel better so i will try to do better. i will start looking forward to the little things like spaghetti monster and simpinrn said. it's hard because i don't have the resources to also seek mental health aid, but i try to do some self help activities.

i just want to feel alive, and not feel like i exist passively. i will try.

I honestly don't understand how and why people believe not taking your life is cowardly. It actually takes far more courage and perseverance to endure life under harsh circumstances than succumb to the temptation of ending it all. Not to mention, people who know and care about you will feel devastated, even if you don't realize it. Some people are so devastated by the loss, they are never the same, so please don't ever take the matter of taking your life lightly. I speak as someone who had a friend commit suicide, and I still live with the guilt and I doubt I will ever get over it, despite the fact they chose to end their life and I was at my wits end at the time.

If things are that bad, talk to people you care about, share how hard life feels and see if anyone is willing to help you through what you are facing. Get professional help if things are genuinely that bad. Mental health professionals can be surprisingly helpful, at the very least, they will listen with their undivided attention to your problems. They might even point out opportunities or suggestions you haven't considered. A big change like changing to be the person you want to be in life requires taking small steps and committing to the path. It's not an overnight change, you may even find yourself making backward steps or even starting back at square 1. But that doesn't mean your efforts were for naught. The path to success is more often than not navigating the maze of failure. Don't give up and have people you trust hold you accountable if you are serious.

It's okay not being able to figure out your life even if your 22, you're not as old as you think you are. Whats important is that you never lose faith in yourself work towards your goal, I have known people in my life who have failed countless times and I have seen them heartbroken, but they have kept trying and today everyone is so proud of them. So you have to take one day at a time and work towards what makes you happy. You say you haven't accomplished anything but I'm sure your family and your friends are happy that you are alive and well. You can join some NGO or do some charity work, that feels more fulfilling than any other material accomplishment or adopt a stray animal, you can help make their life better.

@curious reader

i'm still a coward. too scared to make changes, too scared to see the ugly parts of me, too scared to actually put my life into motion. it's even more numbing than death itself sometimes when death seems so much more peaceful than doing nothing in my meaningless and violent life. i don't know what to do, but i hang on to this sliver of hope that i said when i was 17: to make a beautiful life for myself.

being that i'm in america there is not a lot of resources for me to aquire help, i have been using a lot of self help but it's temporary satisfaction.

i am sorry for you losing your friend, that's a pain that i wish to not install in my friends if i ever do decide to disappear from this world

I do respect that you feel lost and alone living a hard life. However, America by far has the most resources than any other country for self-help and coping with stress. They even have a 24/7 suicide hotline you can call (something like 911 but for people seriously contemplating suicide) that let you talk to experts about issues you struggle with. Most local governments have a mental health agency that has resources you can utilize (for example, NYC runs commercials on prime time tv advocating their resources for people struggling with life). Apps for getting help like talkspace are in the dozens. It's also the nation that has the most research published on mental health issues that people face in different stages in life.

Explore all those options, because America still lives up to its name as the land of opportunity and chances are by trying out everything, something might help. At the very least, your journey will probably give you insight and courage to change your life and not feel as tempted to commit suicide like you do now.
